First of all, let me say how glad I am that it wasn't MY out-of-office auto-reply that got sent!Second, I want to point out that we'll be launching the revamped FSInsider website pretty soon, and that will include a feedback form that will hopefully make it even easier to pass info along. Version 1 probably won't allow file attachments, but we'll look into that once its up and running. Hal BryanFlight Simulator Community Evangelist

>>can someone give me instructions on how to send my "dxdiag">>and .cfg?? I am not quite sure how to but I want to>>contribute in sending this information to microsoft as>>tdragger suggests.>>Sorry if this is too brief:>>1. Click Start, then Run...>2. Type 'dxdiag' and press Enter.>3. Click the 'Save all information' button.>4. Save the file (default name = 'dxdiag.txt').>>Then...>>1. Run FSX.>2. Click 'Settings' from the left hand menu.>3. Click the 'Save...' button.>4. Save the file (will have a .CFG extension).>>Send those two files. Not too brief at all. Thank you. Mine is on the way. What is the benefit of doing this though??

I just send my first e-mail.....After running FSX "slow" but without problems... started FSX and surprise!!!! FSX loaded for a while and then presented the following error message:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158445.jpgRan FS9..... OK, other programs to make sure there was no memory issue. Then inserted the FSX installation DVD and selected "Repair", but it failed to repair then tried remove, again failed. The error:Microsoft Flight simulator X ErrorError 1322.A portion of the path exceeds the length allowed by the system.Followed by another error:Feature transfer errorerror:-1603 Fatal error during installation.Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.So...... I downloaded the referenced document and applied the resolutions suggested, tried to "Repair" or "Remove" . no show, it failed with each one... now that's what I call a Hot Potato.....Just to let you guys know......

This thread is getting buried guys... Maybe Avsim should lock it at the beginning of the General Discussion Forum so it always remains in view. FSX is a hot topic that many will be discussing for the next few months until the many performance issues are ironed out. This thread does not need to get buried especially when a Microsoft rep started it... :-(

Oct 8,2006Posted message at flightsim.com & avsim.comI'm having problems activating FSX, I installed with no problem. When I go to activate I enter my code no problem click next it goes thru the connecting bit but comes with an error"A technical problem occurred while accessing the online activation server. License authorization was unsuccessful."I then choose the box "Activate by telephone now" and I now get the messageProduct Activation Error"An error occurred while attempting to activate the product. The problem may be due to an incomplete installation of the application. Reinstalling the application may resolve the problem. Otherwise please contact product support for assistance."I did 3 reinstalls and same thing happens each time. I tried calling the help phone number but get message about office hours.Any help would be appreciated Thanks DonReceived lots of replies but nothing that helped.Oct 9,2006McFlyskySuggested thisI found this at AVSIM ...Look in the root folder for FSX... There's a file there cleverly hidden with the rediculous name: Phone Activation.xmlThis file is read when you choose the Telephone Activation option when the Registration Window appears. For the U.S., the number is TollFree="1-866-740-1256I found the file and checked that the number was the same for Canada, and I called it about 10 times. When you call the number you get a bit of music for a couple of seconds then dead air. NOTING HAPPENSGave up for rest of weekend Tues Oct. 10,2006Called Microsoft Support Professional 1-800-876-8533 (Canada #) The lady which answered was very professional and took down all the information from me, name e-mail address, my problem verified genuine Flight Simulator X Deluxe etc. She then transferred me to Andrew, who is in games dept.Andrew reviewed the information he had received and verified name, e-mail address etc. He put me in a conference call with a voice machine, which asked me for the product key. It could not understand the letters, so I chose to enter on phone key pad, it still was puzzled, the activation was not for FSX but windows. We then got into a conference call with a real person. This person had me type a command in the run screen and we end up in windows verification. Andrew tried to transfer me to another department and unfortunately we lost connection. At this point I had already spent over an hour on the phone and had to get back to work so I did not call back at that time.I called back when I finished work and with my case # SRX061010603296, I was fortunate to get Andrew almost immediately. With my case number Andrew got us working were we had left off earlier. We then did another conference call and this time the person was familiar with flight sim. After reviewing what was happening he stated that there was a batch of bad DVD

Forgot that the FSX crash at start-up occurs at 84% (loading indicating bar)while "Creating world wide weather". :-violin

>Thanks they will be incomming soon. Something seems to have>happened from the demo 2 realease to the full version the FPS>have really tanked.>>You are not kidding, I installed FS X Deluxe today and I am getting between 7 and 11 FPS.This is with the default setup options and on a P4 3.8 Mhz machine with an ATI Radeon X700 Pro 256 Mb PCIe x 16 Graphics Card.On FS 9.1 I get between 35 and 45 FPS.

Maybe it's just me, but that E-mail is not an easy one to find through Microsoft's site. Only reference to it I found today, by searching for the address, was on:www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2002_readback.asp And I have no idea how you'd get to that page normally. :)The only pages that show up on FSInsider that had that address aren't there anymore.I know, a long time ago, (but still in the FS9 era) I had heard of an E-mail address for suggestions and tried to find it on the official site but ended up giving up. FSInsider I hadn't really heard about until recently."Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
