That's the first time I've ever seen John King where he didn't have his arms outstretched as if he was pretending to be an airplane. 😄 I knew about the Kings because when I bought one of my controllers, they were the only ones who had one available. I think it was the USB version of the CH Pro Pedals. They kept sending me info and finally an email asking why I hadn't returned. 😄 "Um, I'm just a flight simmer..." Of course if Amazon hadn't had the E6-B I probably would have gotten it through King. I've seen some excellent videos of Martha doing training. A lot more "down to earth" than what we saw in the posted video. She's good. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
February 23, 20206 yr Hey guys, the year is 2020 😏. You are asking for a redux of a 2006 video ? What we need is an AI instructor, whatever his name, to guide people in learning the piloting skills . And I think that we will get it before the FS20 shelf life (presumably 10 years) is over. Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

Exactly, and an AI instructor in VR.

February 23, 20206 yr John and Martha King are institutions in aviation training. I mean this with the utmost admiration and respect. Their knowledge vast, but I’m not sure that their presentation style necessarily connects well with younger generations. I’m...um, let’s say more seasoned that a lot of folks that will be picking up the new sim and I admit I have a hard time watching the Kings these days. Rod Machado is a brilliant teacher and accomplished presenter, but If MS wants to do flight lesson type material, I wouldn’t mind seeing someone outside the usual suspects like Jason Miller from the Finer Points of Flying. Agree. Also with all due respect, if you are going to make training videos available, do it with a younger, more dynamic crowd - and cut the cheesy jokes.

As cheesy as a lot of his jokes are, they do help people to remember the material. He’s even acknowledged this at speaking events at Oshkosh and elsewhwere. That’s not his real sense of humor. He does it to create a powerful memory aid.

That may be, but it's not how it comes across. I stopped watching the video's in those days, because I found them cringe-worthy I think that style of teaching is dated.

February 27, 20206 yr Anybody talking mess about Rod Machado is gonna get boxed... 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.
February 27, 20206 yr I watch lately the videos of Mentour pilot on YouTube. I realy like them. These are not really flying lessons but they do give you some insights in flying. Computer specs: CPU: fast | RAM: enough | GPU: fast | SSD: Pretty fast | Monitor: big | Internet bandwidth: pretty fast | Everything is 3Dfx compatible. 😉

They're still on my wall. I did almost all of my ground school with FSX and his lessons (had bought his Private Pilot Handbook as well), well before I ever had the nerve to go to a real plane. By the time I started my actual PPL training it was fast and smooth. I've flown dozens (irl) planes since and probably would never have had the confidence to start it with Rod's lessons in FSX. I'm wanting to get my son into it (the right way though, prepping for actual flight via good sim practice), and really wish they would have kept that material ported forward somehow. It was invaluable to me and could still be to others - it was like an actual ground school course with some sim work - later versions' "lessons" are more about how to use a sim than how to be pilot.
June 13, 20214 yr All good wishes to Rod. He often ended up telling me "I think you're a little detracted today so we'll end the lesson there!" in FSX. But I persisted. Many years later and these days I still remember Rod's teaching when flying real world. . . Rod still has good stuff on Youtube; the "looks like a pizza" landing video is a must to nail correct height to flare.
