Sorry to say Chris, I'll eat my hat if the NGX is ever supported in Prepar3D V5

I am quite prepared for that scenario, but having to pay for Prepar3D v5, PMDG 737 NGXu, the 600/700 expansion pack, and maybe also the 777 is a lot to ask.

It's time to go all conspiracy! 🤣 Is it a co-incidence that the virtually unheard of "PMDG Sale" is over on the same day that Prepar3D V5 is being released? I'll hazard a guess. NGXu will continue to be supported in Prepar3D V5 no fee involved for current owners. Queen of the Sky III will be supported in V5 with an update fee. 777 discontinued. 777 V2 released on the 14th for Prepar3D V5 only for $134.99. Anyone who bought 777 V1 during the sale will get a credit for that amount toward the full price of the 777 V2. The rest of us 777 V1 owners will have to buy it again if we want to fly it in Prepar3D V5.😭🤣

I have a feeling they might pull something like this but also I have a feeling it will be free.

However I do not plan on buying or moving to V5 unless both PMDG/FSLABS announce they will port to V5 otherwise I will not move over as these are the planes I fly 99% of the time.

Does V5 look nice? Yes for sure but I won't fly Aerosoft or any other GA plane  for that matter.

They will probably make an announcement after their sale is over. $$$

I am keen to buy the sale PMDG 777, however the sims I currently have are FSX:SE and XP11. Given all the above, would you advise buying the current PMDG for P3DV4 that's on sale for 100USD and attempting to use it in the new P3D later this week, or just hold off and wait for a PMDG announcement?

If not, I could just get the sale FSX 777 for $67.50, and forget about P3DV5 and wait for the new FS2020.

I would be really surprised if all the existing complex aircraft weren't made V5 compliant as they all can benefit from the leverage of 90% FPS increase.

Absolutely agree.....!

I was wondering why PMDG had a sale that ended on a Tuesday. Now we know the answer. Can't wait to hear what they have to say about v5.

You do realize the NDA was lifted, right? That's why other devs are announcing their intentions...

No. Was not aware.  Is it a blanket lifting?  or a partial lifting?  ("we are a partner" rather than "here's everything you wish to know")  There is a huge difference there.  I was deeply involved as a business-side manager of legal strategy for similar issues with a major auto/powersports/now aircraft corporation.  The difference between the two is extremely wide.

One is little more than a "partner" icon on web sites, the other is a release of meaningful details.

The NGX is obsolete and has been superseded by the NGXu. NGX support for Prepar3D V5 is about as likely as MD11 support for Prepar3D V5😁

You can't even buy the NGX for Prepar3D anymore. I'll eat your hat if its supported!

Your on your own with that. I never give advise about anything I am not certain about and that adds up to virtually nothing!🤣

OK, here is what I think: the current 777 for Prepar3D will probably not even install in Prepar3D V5. PMDG installer will not recognize the prepar3d.exe

You'll be taking your chances on a free update at some unknown point in the future.

Past behaviour is a very good predictor of future behaviour. And bad behaviour does not change until the chickens come home to roost!

MV was and remains part of the LM beta team but, like A2A, we're waiting until we have a stable build... and right now, that's not yet available.  Soon, we will be able to properly assess what's what.

Does v5 finally have aircraft self-reflections?  It would be a shame if not.

I wonder if PMDG would know the actual release date or if it was just a guess that happened to end on 4/14/2020.

Guess we shall wait and see 😛
