April 16, 20206 yr Was wondering what the lowest settings any alpha testers may have been accepted on and what they reckon would be required to run the game with decent performance and graphics? thanks bill
April 16, 20206 yr To add after having read the P3D forum : What about the use of VRAM ? Is 8 Gb enough with settings at 2/3 - 3/4 max ? April 16, 20206 yr Alpha testers aren't permitted to comment on things like performance due to the NDA they agreed to when signing up.

Thanks, Gerard The alpha tester who recently made a video didn’t report anything wrong of that sort with a 1080ti STRIX coupled to a 7940x driving a a 1080p at 144 Hz, with all sliders to the right. The only issue he reported was that the streaming struggled in a high density scenery like Manhattan. Asobo said from early on that their engine was designed to make an extensive use of the GPU. Thanks. As my server is also a 7940X I will be safe then. The only thing that does come to my mind is : what will happen if MSFS goes DX12 ? We will have to wait and see.. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

FS20 will be dx11 at release, dx12 will come later. I have no idea whether that will change anything to the ability of Asobo’s proprietary engine to use the GPU to crunch data (as opposed to smoothing data loading). Why Axobo doesn’t go dx12 straight away is still a mystery to me. April 16, 20206 yr They probably haven't received their copy of "DX12 for dummies" yet Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
April 16, 20206 yr I have just read the « P3Dv5 Excessive vRam usage » on the P3D forum. I understand now why Asobo is prudent with DX12 . Smart people 😏 Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam
April 16, 20206 yr They haven’t done any optimization yet, so getting system requirements at this point would be pointless. I’d just be patient and wait for MS/Asobo to release official ones. Edited April 16, 20206 yr by Tuskin38
April 16, 20206 yr It is designed to run on the new Xbox X. There's your min specs. Quote CPU: 8x Zen 2 Cores at 3.8GHz (3.6GHz with SMT) 7nm. GPU: 12 TFLOPs, 52 CUs at 1.825GHz, Custom RDNA 2. Memory: 16GB GDDR6. Storage: 1TB custom NVMe SSD
April 16, 20206 yr PC games have scalability of graphical options, consoles do not (as far as i know). That means that the minimum requirements are also different. Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

No, they are designing it for PC and will be porting it to the Xbox One family after the release. The minimum requirements will not be that high, as Pastaiolo said, almost all PC games have graphics quality presets and options to suit a wide range of systems. A developer said that the game runs fairly well on a GeForce GTX 1060, and people with Intel Haswell and AMD Piledriver CPUs have been accepted into the Alpha. While you will definitely need a strong system to turn up the settings, the bar seems to be rather low so far, and there's still plenty of optimisation to be done.
April 16, 20206 yr So Asobo own insider issue list about low FPS is OK, as they do not have high detailed big jets included yet and what settings on AI, we will have to wait till everything is included in the sim to judge performance when it goes retail. Will there be headroom for third party addons in terms of performance. Raymond Fry.

No, the official information we have is its designed or made or released (pick which one) for the Xbox One. As some previously put, it's made for the PC then optimised for everything else. Then why when they do preview vids of the upcoming XBOX Series X do they show MSFS included in the game pass catalogue. Edited April 16, 20206 yr by G-RFRY Raymond Fry.
