PILOT's FS Global

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I see on FSElite that a new PILOT's FS Global will become available at an upgrade fee to work with P3Dv5? Does anyone knows where this information comes from?

Also, P3Dv5 has updated elevation. Does anyone know what is that resolution and if we actually need PILOT's FS Global or it is good enough as default?

I’ve been using the pilot’s mesh in v5 with no problem, just directly add the scenery folder. Can’t comment yet on how much better it is than default,  both are pretty good. Suspect pilots is higher res but with more “airports on raised platforms” problems.

I bought the previous version via their website and I might get the new one that way, too, but certainly not for the full price.

Kinds regards, Michael

On Simmarket the upgrade price is 15 Euro. Not sure how to do the upgrade from the Pilots site.

Looks like most of the ORBX regions include there own mesh, so between the standard P3D V5 mesh and what is included in ORBX I must still decide what I will do once I go for PD3 V5

If you have the older versions (I have FS Global Next Generation Ultimate) the installer will not work with P3D v4 or v5...you have to buy the new one even thought this is perfectly good.  I have ended up manually installing and it works just fine....looks great actually in v4 and I expect the same in v5.

I wonder if there are any changes in the mesh in the new version? If not, and one already has the most recent edition Pilot’s mesh in its own folder (and sub-folders) from P3D V4, it is extremely easy to make it active in P3D V5, by simply manually inserting the folders into scenery.cfg. (I kept a copy of the scenery.cfg from my previous V4 installation as a reminder of where the Pilot’s mesh should go.

I have not done so yet, because it appears that default P3D V5 mesh is higher-resolution than P3D V4 default, but I don’t know that for certain. The only problem with using higher-resolution mesh than default is the side effect of ending up with some airports on plateaus.

If the new version of the ultimate mesh brings something new to the table specific to P3DV5, then the small upgrade price would be well worth it.

But if not, why pay $15 just to save yourself 10 minutes of work editing scenery.cfg with Notepad?

I could be wrong, but I don’t think terrain mesh can be installed using the add-on.xml method. I think it has to go into scenery.cfg, layered in a very specific location, though the mesh itself can certainly be in it’s own folder outside of the core sim, just as it was in P3DV4.

Fair upgrade price for such an important addon.

Right! I’ll think this time. I have Global 2018.

I need help with the upgrade pricing as well.  I have the CD/DVD FS Global Ultimate version I ordered directly from Pilot's.  The upgrade is only offered if you made a previous purchase via simmarket.

I've tried to contact Pilot's via email, but have no received a response.  If anyone knows how to get in touch with them, please share.

Thank you.

I've purchased FSG Ultimate NG (DL) two or three years ago, but not at Simmarket. I guess it was at Pilot's web shop. Now I have to pay the full prize?

At pilot's website no info at all. As usual.

If you log into your Pilots account there's a way to add all your orders by codes. Once your order history is created you can then get special pricing.

I would really like to get some clarification as to whether there is any difference between the Global Ultimate Mesh NG for P3D V5 vs. P3D V4. The size of the download on the SimMarket upgrade page is exactly the same as the previous P3D V4. If it is the same mesh as the Version 4 edition, then all you really get for $15 is a new installer that points at the P3DV5 folder and scenery.cfg
