April 17, 20206 yr Actually their installer turns off some few bgls in the sim to .bg_ from .bgl. I just created a batch of the files which it turns off. It is not just about sticking the mesh files in. Usually it works. I never figured what those bgls did. I just hope it doesn't mess with terrain.cfg etc How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)

It is not just about sticking the mesh files in. Usually it works. I never figured what those bgls did. I just hope it doesn't mess with terrain.cfg etc Yes, I had forgotten about that. I had the original Ultimate Mesh in FSX. When I updated to P3D, I simply transferred the mesh entries to P3D’s scenery.cfg in both P3D V2 and V3. When the new NG version came out after the release of 64-bit P3D V4, I purchased it and installed it using the Pilot’s installer, which as you mentioned, disables certain default .bgl files, so simply copying the scenery entries might not be optimal. In that case, the upgrade fee would be worth it to insure the “2020” version installs properly, even if there is no actual change in the mesh itself. There was a definite improvement in loading time with the NG mesh as opposed the original version. I’m still going to hold off on adding the NG mesh to V5 until I have the opportunity to fly with the default mesh for a while. There are several anomalies in the default scenery already identified by various users - a river in Spain that looks like the Grand Canyon along its entire length, a Pacific island airport that appears to be sitting on a perfectly rectangular block of terrain with no coastline etc. These are probably errors in the new default vector data, but I think I’ll wait for LM to correct some of these issues in updates to V5 before I install the Pilot’s NG mesh. April 18, 20206 yr I did a test on a LIVE Stream with FsGlobal Ultimate NG mesh and found the results very surprising: frames stutter at first as it was a mesh test and not a fps test Edited April 18, 20206 yr by adam77

Just disappointed it only allows you to dump the entire folder in the root of your drives, doesn't offer specific paths from what I saw. April 18, 20206 yr I have it installed on a separate drive and just added to layers to install to P3D v4. Did the same with v5 although it may not have installed properly. Still working on it. Mark CYYZ

April 18, 20206 yr Yeah, experienced said bug last night. When selecting v5, it still looked for the v4 path and files in ProgramData, making it unable to install. So had to make a mock v4 folder then copy over the result. So definitely a good idea to get updated if you plan on installing 2020. April 18, 20206 yr Took advantage of the discount and upgraded to FSGUNG2020, Some mountain areas I checked seemed more detailed, although I am no expert in this matter.. Performance in v5 is excellent overall so far with no sudden mesh changes. Using it in v4 and v5. The previous version was bought from Pilot's in boxed DVD format, I wrote to Stefan and he sent me a coupon to use at Simmarket for the discount. However you will need to download the new version which is 70Gb or thereabouts. April 18, 20206 yr It's pointless to add mesh if we have no simple means of flattening out airport plateaus particularly with 3rd party airports, something we could somewhat accomplish fairly easily with Orbx vector. Plus the thought of adding ~100gb or more to the scenery config resulting in even slower load time seems outright nauseating. Load times and Vram limitations are the two big caveats with this platform at the moment. The upgrade is only offered if you made a previous purchase via simmarket. I've tried to contact Pilot's via email, but have no received a response. If anyone knows how to get in touch with them, please share. Thank you. I also purchased from Pilot's but they are not replying to messages. Trying few times but no answer.

Pilot's provided a tool called AFM (Airport Flatten Manager) for previous versions of their meshs which you could download from their Website after registering the product. I never used it as Vector did the job (let's say in most cases) but this might come handy again now. Contrary to the Vector AEC tool, you have to find the respective flatten file via ICAO in the tool and install it on a per-airport base if you find issues, not as a whole batch in advance. However, it remains to be seen if they provide this tool for the new mesh and if "flattening" airports is exactly what we want in the age of curved runways. IF Pilot's had a forum we could ask. IF. April 18, 20206 yr I can't stand Pilots website. I have a paid copy of Mesh Ultimate NG that I bought from the now defunct FlightSim Store and I am unable to redownload it from Pilots website, even though it shows registered when I log in.
