FSL A/P Disconnecting Repeatedly

Featured Replies

Anyone any idea why my FSL A321 A?P keeps disconnecting repeatedly? Not using ASN at the moment. Logitech Extreme 3D joystick.

Still on P3Dv4.5.

Have to drop nose down to pick up the A/P again.

Probably either turbulence being read as a movement on your controls, or a control spike. Either of which, depending on the autopilot mode, could disengage the autopilot if the system interpreted that as deliberate movement of the controls as a desire for you to disengage the autopilot and take over manual control. So you could either increase the null zone on your controllers, or mess with the options on the MCDU.

Check your key assignments in P3D.  I have a number keypad for Chaseplane views and I find that with every P3D update (and new FSL releases) that some of the numbers (3 seems worst) will disconnect the AP.  I deleted all number key assignments in P3D and it fixed the issue.

Thanks Alan. I think it is a control spike as the A/T is stuck a TOGA LK despite choosing CL detent. As I am not using ASN it cannot be the weather which is currently the default P3D blue around skies around Ireland having just taken off from EIDW causing turbulence.

I am getting really hacked off with this FSLA321 as this does not happen with the PMDG 737NGXu.

Tried looking in that MCDU- Options pg 3 Controls-Thrust Levers-Detent Zones but whatever is in there is already in blue and cannot edit/amend.

Must admit I have not touched the Null Zones because this is a completely fresh P3D re-install v 4.5 after the Windows 10 Pro screw-ups I have had last two days.

On previous FSL flights, the A/T would indicate go to CL, which I did and pulled the throttle back to that CL detent and the climb to cruise, A/P, A/T were all smooth.

Had to waste over an hour prepping the flight, just to ditch it!😡

Thanks Mark. I am a tad lost here. Which number keypad are you referring to? And where do I find that P3D number key assignments? I use FS2Crew for this aircraft.

I had one instance FSL's Ap disengaged at crusing just today, no ideal why and the plane fly well before I reengage it after like 5s.

Rera but some instance happend at the past, I thought it might due to low FPS or system lag strike.

This can happen if you fly near a payware scenery that has to "load in".  FSL doesn't handle the long pause of scenery loading well.  That's when I get a disconnect.  Even flying at cruise level.  If I fly over a payware airport that causes a long pause while loading, the AP will disconnect.

If it is happening immediately after engaging the A/P check the trim setting. I don't use the FSL models, but most real autopilots require the aircraft to be in trim, within certain limits before engaging. If you are having issues with the throttle setting, at or just before engaging, this could cause the out of trim effect. The fact that you had to 'drop the nose' to get it to engage would fit with this.

If it is happening in other phases of flight then the other suggestions of spiking or scenery loading issues could be more likely.

Thanks to @C2615 @klamal and John for your inputs. Again much appreciated.

The only payware scenery I was at was MK Studios' Dublin, but these repeated disconnects were taking place in the Irish Sea. No Orbx sceneries anywhere for teh UK or anywhere else for that matter as I have not even got around to re-installing any Orbx stuff.

I have turned the Null Zones to zero in P3D v4.5 Calibration page.

I don't go anywhere for the Trim, John, except input the PERF vallues on the MCDU from the ATSU messages, i.e  V1, V2, Vr, Flex Temp, Flaps, etc, etc.

Options - Controls - Key Assignments.  Look for all of the numbers 0, 1, 2 - 9 and delete them.  You may want to pay attention to what they are currently assigned to just to make sure you don't actually use or need them.

Thanks again, Mark. Just had a look, and the only numbers as you have listed are under  'Select Item' 1, 2, 3, 4, so I have deleted them. Cannot see any other numbers that you have listed except with Shift+ whatever.

I've had this as well, for me at least it was that I left the rudders stuck full right. Try to ensure that your flight controls are neutral (just wondering)

Thanks, again. As I use FS2Crew for this aircraft as with others, I go through the sequences, and I do make sure that the 'Rudder' and 'Flight Controls Check' are all returned to Centre.

Can't see anything, Mark. It's a blank line.

Just took off again from EIDW, and this time, as per FS2Crew's interface, instead of neglecting the 'AP1 on' in the Main Button, as I have been trying to hand-fly her to 5000ft AGL, I opted for that 'AP1 on' this time, and all seems to have gone smoothly. I had re-set the Null Zones back to default in P3D  Calibration page .

Cannot believe not opting for the AP1 soon after the Take-off resulted in a smooth no disconnects. Unlike the Boeing which can be hand flown to 5000ft no problems.

No TOGA LK too, as before, shown in the Capt's Outer DU top left too. Instead, as I was hoping, 'THR CLB'.

I hope I can now manage a complete flight to Samos✌️
