October 17, 200619 yr >How many people are using version 3 and are completely happy>with it? I'm looking to get ver3 as it's much cheaper than 4>in the UK (from RC Simulations) as Ebay doesn't seem to have>any :((>>My eDimensional 3D glasses arrive later this week too, so I>want to be able to use both in FSX. Has anyone got any happy>tales to tell me about using both with FSX?>>Thanks>DaveyGet Track IR4 you will be much happier and it comes with full 6DOF out of the box. Track IR3 you have to buy the addon to it to enable the 6DOF if I recall correctly.
October 17, 200619 yr >I have been thinking of getting a TIR4. I was wondering if>anyone gets a stiff neck from using it? I assume you don't>move your head very much, then in the vc the movement is much>more. >>Can ya clip the reflectors onto your ears and stick one on>your forehead? Then no hat is necessary? Just kidding!>>I read up on it and it was stated that there is no way to turn>it off.>Is this true?>>What happens when ya sneeze? lolNo that is not true, you can either use the default key mapping and turn it off. (which is good when you have to answer the phone or whatever) I have my off/on switch mapped to my hotas so when I'm on a long haul I can just turn it off and lean back in the chair, then turn it on again when it is time to land etc.No stiff necks here ;-)
October 17, 200619 yr HelloThe horizontal tearing is probably because you have VSync disabled in your graphics card drivers.Try enabling VSync always onAnd on bright days try enabling the light filtering in the trackIr software ontil you see no red in the tracking window.
October 18, 200619 yr You can also define the dead zone to allow for slight head movement so that you dont have to keep your head rock steady.
October 18, 200619 yr Of course you can turn it of during flight. For instance, if you need to consult checklists or maps then a simple hit on the F9 button (or another one, I am not sure now) suffices to freeze the cameraposition. This option also comes in handy when you want to take a close look at one of the instruments.Physically TrackIr has no downsides as far as I know. People who use multifocal glasses should be aware that the sweet spot in their glasses is probably not big enough to cover the viewing area when turning your head farther from the centre. That is why I use old single focal glasses for simming. Another reason for my wife and daughter to laugh about me, wearing a dusty old cap with these strange looking trackir apparatus on it, old glasses from 1995 and on top of it a headset. Herrie
October 18, 200619 yr >Another reason for my wife and daughter to laugh about me,>wearing a dusty old cap with these strange looking trackir>apparatus on it, old glasses from 1995 and on top of it a>headset.Have you tried attaching the TrackIR clip directly to the band of your headset? If the band's not too thick, it should work. That's the way I use mine: I have the clip attached to my Sennheiser headset. The TrackIR software even has a setting where you can choose the location of the clip, "Headset" or "Cap" (not sure about exact wording, but anyway).
October 18, 200619 yr Well actually I use a light weight headset with the "band" in my neck. So there is no way to connect trackir on it in any sensible way. Nevertheless, thank you for your consideration, it helps :)
October 19, 200619 yr Im still using version 3 with Vector and I can't fly low and slow without it. Craig
October 19, 200619 yr Wow that's weird (this message was a copy of that above). I only hit the submit button once.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
October 19, 200619 yr I second that opinion. I have both, and the 4 is light years better than the 3. The range of motion increase is really key. With the 3, I would often bump into the boundaries, the 4 is wide open in comparison. You will be glad you spent the extra money.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
October 19, 200619 yr We also hope to be coming out with an active LED vector clip, that can attach directly to people's headsets as well.
November 2, 200619 yr I have seen on the naturalpoint forum, that vince said the panning in the spot and 2d cockpit is an issue with FSX not TIR... Has anybody found a work-around yet? Please!!! It is really starting to bug me! :(
November 2, 200619 yr Could you please give me your settings to lower sensitivity and dead zones?I am not sure how to do it nd I am having the same problem you describe. Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
November 4, 200619 yr Ooh, would this help with using it outside?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 4, 200619 yr It sounds neat but I don't get how looking left will work well....I mean, you look left (or right etc), and your eyes aren't even looking at the monitor anymore.
