May 2, 20206 yr I have an EVGA FTW GTX1070 8GB...and with Dynamic Texture off...right near Detroit, Mich...I'm getting 27-30 (locked 30 within sim) and at 5.7/6.7 With it switched on, same 30 seconds of flight after it off...same place, same Bat channel...I am getting the SAME FPS, BUT...with my vRAM now only consuming 4.5/6.7 With my complete uninstall and full install of v5.24, I am getting great performance, dead smooth animation, at 27-30 locked 30...and am very impressed with my last hour of flight...as for this new feature switch to control vRAM consumption...... On my system I see no hit on FPS performance, as some have noted on their systems. I guess it all falls back to how was the update installed? What was deleted, what was not..etc. L.M. does recommend a full deletion of the RTM before you run the Set Up, and not merely using and patching the three modules, with the RTM core left installed. This sucker works! Edited May 2, 20206 yr by Sesquashtoo

You have been assimilated I see, 🙂 This release has taken care of vector errors as well. I just flew over the Sarnia River, that seperates Michigan from Ontario, Canada, and in the RTM I had roads criss-crossing the water...and now, the water is clean...and all looks good. I'm getting outstanding performance, (as I did in the RTM), but now...with many issues having been seen to. Very happy, very happy with v5.24! Mitch

Mitch I'm finding it real hard to like the way the sim looks vs my 4.5. Example at TNCM P3D v5 P3D v4.5 I have many more examples. Seattle looks washed out and the night lighting is no where my p3D v4.5. Example: p3D v4.5 I'm not even bothering to post of pic of v5 it's just horrid. There are a few things I like such as fps, but I need to deal with the water color and shaders ASAP or else I'll have to stick with v4.5 Edited May 2, 20206 yr by DJJose MSFS
May 2, 20206 yr Dynamic Texture reduces my vRAM but the jetway ground textures flicker and look corrupt when I move the camera. When I shut off Dynamic Texture the flickering stops. Saw a post about it on P3D forum so at least LM is aware. Edited May 2, 20206 yr by NightOfDreams

Example at TNCM P3D v5 P3D v4.5 Between those two pictures I think the top one, v5 actually looks more realistic to what I see in real life. The bottom one is prettier and looks more artistic but not as realistic. The bottom one also looks like what someone might see depending on what type of sunglasses their wearing. A lot of screen shots I see posted look very pretty, but often time loom like what someone wants the world to look like, rather than what is actually looks like. That bottom photo is one of those for me. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

The very first time I ran the RTM...I said that finally, the 'cartoon' has left the building...and how much more realistic is now Orbx's land class scenery. That alone was a keeper. But Jose demonstrates, there is a choice...to run v4.5 DX11, or v5.24 DX12. Whatever makes you feel, you might be there, above it all. Tonight, under TrueSky...and flying up the east coast of Lake Huron, at just the time, the sun disk kissed the terrain...well, it was magical...especially over nVidia WaveWorks 2.0! Just magical... May 2, 20206 yr Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I'll take a cartoon like sim over a washed out every time. There's still hope that P3D v5 will remain in my system. I'm going to see if ENVSHADE is worth trying. I'm going to start a new thread. MSFS

They give a standard setting where anyone can work off with Envshade, Reshade etc. System: i9 [email protected] - 32 GB RAM - Aorus 1080ti --- Sim/Addons: P3D v5 + ProSim737

I agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, however if you disable enhanced atmospherics you will have similar looks as 4.5HF3, but with performance gains from DX12 as a third option to choose from. Also the different shaders tools will catch up, and give you more to choose from your liking... TOGA is working on an update to go the full PBR route..., at this point it's compatible but your missing out a bunch of stuff which will become available after the update of envtex...
