CPU HT Enabled and P3D V5, looks better to me!

Recommended Posts

I had HT disabled in my old CPU i7-4770 due to thermal concerns and no actual benefit from enabling it on P3D V4 and lower as was advised by experts, today and out of curiosity, I decided to enable it under P3D V5 HF1 for testing and noticed that auto gen loading (buildings) are much improved, it still happens but at farther distance and not very annoying as it used to be before enabling HT.

I think it worth a try if you are annoyed (like me) by auto gen loading in the shape of square zones one after the other as I get closer to it.

I agree. Same CPU. HT ON is better.

Seeems that 4 core are to little also running 4K.

I can confirm that HT on gives better performance in my case with V5.

I think that, with DX-12, the multi core awareness of P3D v5 is much better than before and therefor no AM is needed anymore?

Still get better results with HT on but an AM masking hyperthreading. More smooth, less stutters. HT on but no AM is still jittery...

not on my system , totally smooth even at FTXSCA,

Maybe its because i am running unlimited VSYNC ON ,TB ON, 25HZ?

Perhaps Steve will chime in as he is the specialist on HT and AM ..

It might be that with HT enabled the new V5 will benefit from it.

AM I do not know.

I had HT on through all 4.x versions and now 5.0(+HF). I am still annoyed by autogen loading in patches as soon as I set Autogen Draw distance higher than medium. My testbed is the Silicon Valley after taking off from KSFO and turning to the South, 3000', it never fails.

It's better masked in the dust with Enhanced Atmosphere, but it's still annoying. I had big hopes they would resolve this in 5.x but now I'm convinced they will never do so till the end of my life. In fact I am about to give up reporting it, it's wasted time.

Kind regards, Michael

I have that weird "bug" or feature, where core0 is at 100%.  In Process LAsso, if I disable HT and re-enable, cores seem better balanced.  But I think that's because my memory is at 1600 mhz and recommended is 2666.

Or, because you have frames locked in sim?

Interesting, I’ve always left HT off, but can’t hurt to try it and see if DX12 can make some use of it.

Definitely a case by case basis, people should try various solution, find what works for their CPU. I get better result masking off the logical cores, higher FPS and a smoother experience.
