I recently installed 4.5 and paid $199 to do it, spent a good 24h+ setting it up, configuring every little thing and you know how that goes, all that on top of building a new machine. Updating all models of the four planes I use, FSCaptain, ASN4, the REX products, etc. So I'm a little late to this party compared to some here for sure. I'm duly impressed w/ v4.5 since I had been on 3.4 for 4y and counting...... I know myself well enough state I have zero interest in multiple flight sims in my machine, except for brief periods until it's obvious which platform I find myself using. If I were in your position, I would likely also stay with V4.5. and be happy. But I cannot for the life of me understand why you constantly rain on our parade.. Just like you found with V4.5. that it can indeed provide very good visuals and performance, some of us who have spent a week converting to V5 (and yes, it is a lot of detailed work if you happen to own Tongass Fjords or similar..) we are now finding that V5 is a real step up from V4.5. Visually and performance wise.. Having said that, I would not encourage you to rush to V5 as "an early adopter".. as you suggest, it can be a frustrating experience.. Instead enjoy V4.5! It absolutely is a great platform, and I still happily fly it in my neighborhood (where the local scenery is not yet V5 capable).. Edited May 4, 20206 yr by Bert Pieke Bert
May 4, 20206 yr Moderator 🙂 Some people see the glass half full and some see it half empty I am very impressed with v5. Sure it has quite a few annoying bugs but when it runs - it is exceptional. This first HF, I really expect another, worked through the major issues but some still remain. Potentially though, we have a winner in v5, in the few flights I've taken some of the visuals have been breathtaking. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

I've never subscribed to the 'update every time there is an update' philosophy in this mainly because I don't like to spend time testing, troubleshooting, optimizing, etc. It's okay until it's finished but after that it's flying time. Playing Devil's Advocate provokes not only defensive comments but also helps tease out details that may not be apparent otherwise. And 2, it helps me firm up my own decision on whether or not to go there. That's all, nothing more to it. And I fully agree, I won't be buying v5 until MSFS debuts, and then I will decide which path to pursue going forward. And that decision will only happen when I can pickup RTX Ampere Ti or Titan w/ serious VRAM.
