June 23, 20205 yr Hi guys, Here's my initial findings from flying VR in HF2 with my Rift S: 1. EA looks great, but you still need to use stereo mode in VR unfortunately when using this. I do all of my VR flying in EA. 2. Steam VR mode is still the way to go, Oculus gives me stutters. 3. Water with extreme detail looks good in VR now, I didn't like the effect in HF1 as it seemed out of sync. Reflections on the water still seem to have a problem between left and right eyes, not pleasant to look at buy tolerable. 4. Reflections: I had these turned off in HF1 as they rotated far to much with head movement. The effect is still there in HF2, but it looks more tolerable on initial inspection. 5. Performance: jury is still out on that. It is brilliant with EA turned off in the default F-32, but as I never fly that usually I can't promise it's improved! 6. Shadows - noting some weird, polygon-like cloud shadows over the water. I am using: 1. Stereo mode (because EA just looks so good) 2. Pre-render - need further testing here. I was a big fan of flying in VR with HF1, although there were some issues. Looking forward to further testing HF2, it's now time to try some complex aircraft. So, if you're flying VR in HF2, let us know how your system is performing, what problems you have noticed and your current preferred settings. Cheers! June 23, 20205 yr I install still + addons, will try later. Webmaster of yoyosims.pl.Win 10 64, i9 9900k, RTX 3090 24Gb, RAM32Gb, SSD M.2 NVMe, Predator XB271HU res.2560x1440 27'' G-sync, Sound Blaster Z + 5.1, TiR5 [MSFS, P3Dv5, DCS, RoF, Condor, IL-2 CoD/BoX] VR fly only: HP Reverb G2
June 23, 20205 yr VR? I have this error: but it works .... hmmmm.... Webmaster of yoyosims.pl.Win 10 64, i9 9900k, RTX 3090 24Gb, RAM32Gb, SSD M.2 NVMe, Predator XB271HU res.2560x1440 27'' G-sync, Sound Blaster Z + 5.1, TiR5 [MSFS, P3Dv5, DCS, RoF, Condor, IL-2 CoD/BoX] VR fly only: HP Reverb G2
June 23, 20205 yr Can one of the mods merge this into the previous VR topic from earlier today. Disregard. That was a different subforum and I realized this topic will get more visibility here. I was having an issue with tracking, but it appears it was due my HMD not being calibrated after updating to build 2004. Perf is MUCH better in HF2. Super smooth and things are loading in quickly. I see that is enable as default option now. This is something new: Added VR setting to disable Hidden Area Mesh. June 23, 20205 yr Did a couple of quick flights, one out of ORBX KFHR/TE Washington in the A2A Cub, the other in the A2A 172 out of TE NorCal from KSFO pointed at downtown (probably one of the hardest areas to use atm with High autogen settings...a billion houses and trees etc etc etc).... about 15 seconds of stutters post take off from SFO while the city and the houses etc loaded...after that It was smooth.... Stereo mode now offers better overall performance for ME vs single pass. Previously this was not the case. While single pass provides some FPS bump, it seems spikey whereas the stereo while a few fps less was butter smooth. No head tracking issues, it feels like some of the performance lost for me on HF1 has come back. Looks like I will be returning to VR only flights again! June 24, 20205 yr HP REVERB here, unfortunately I'm too busy tinkering with it in combat sims like IL-2 and DCS. Haven't flown in P3D in VR yet. In IL-2 and DCS it is INSANE. But I follow VR threads in Prepar3D forum.

All VR HMD have a certain portion of their screen not visible. Therefore, if you can prevent rendering these areas, you can save some precious GPU cycles. This area is defined by the hidden area mesh and is HMD dependant. This setting most likely allow P3D5 to rendering all pixels in the HMD screens.

June 24, 20205 yr Thanks, Rob! It looks like I also have to consider upgrading to V5 sooner or later ... Often the Pimax Users are suffering from this black squares on their HMD Screens when using single pass. This option should solve it for them. Marcus Regards, Marcus P.
