If you go to India, you can sell your hair there. But honestly, I feel sorry for you, and your not getting any replies so at least this will bounce the post up.al

i have no idea what would cause this even after a fresh reinstallation...but just a shot in the dark...have you tried reinstalling dx-9c on your system?Dave

Reinstalling should always be the very LAST resort.Reinstalling does NOT replace the fsx.cfg file, which is - >90% of the time the problem - because it's become currupted.I would recommend deleting the fsx.cfg file and restart FSX so it will build a new one...

Just to add, try deleting both files in the Mydocuments/FLight simulator X Files folder.

Hi,I'm not having the identical problem your having right now but I am trying to straighten out some other problems with the program. "I feel your pain". Who knows, the same problem your having could happen to myself and others in the future.Hope you find a fix soon.Best Wishes.

Hey tks for the recommendations. Ended up doing a couple of reinstalls. Wish I had gotten to your post on deleting the cfg file before hand.Anyway and much to my delight, it's working again.tks Bill

I am also having the exact same problem, it occured for no apparent reason, and I am hoping more people become aware of this and find a fix before it happens to many more people! So, you're not the only guy in the world experiencing this.

Hi there, yup, same problem here. Haven't been able to figure out the cause either and removing FSX.cfg or the other files mentioned above didn't help either. Using the repair function does work but it's not particularly satisfying having to do this 20-minute procedure every few days :-(Perhaps there are common factors? My installation of FSX is on an external HD though that in itself shouldn't be an issue.I'll try to get some ideas from ACES too.Cheers, Holger

For the sake of our common sanity, will someone please REMOVE the exclamation point key from this man's keyboard.-Rick----------- My System -----------P4 @ 2.53 GHz / 1GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 6800XT, 256MB / Windows XP Home

Me again,Well, maybe Bill was correct and it does have something to do with the FSX.cfg. I have been able to start FSX by adding a direct path to the FSX.cfg in the desktop shortcut properties.Right-click on the FSX shortcut, then one Properties, then add the following in the "Target" box behind the current path to the .exe:/CFG:FSX.cfgFor example, my complete entry in the Target box looks like this:"X:Microsoft Flight Simulator Xfsx.exe" /CFG:C:Documents and SettingsUserApplication DataMicrosoftFSXFSX.cfgNote that you can instead use the path to any custom .cfg you may have saved. In any case, adding that command allowed me to start FSX without problems. Still don't know though why the issue appeared in the first place...Cheers, Holger

I had exactly the same problem after compressing my FSX folder. After uncompressing it went away. I now only have some of the folders inside the FSX folder compressed (scenery and texture) and the issue is gone.Martijn

I understand your frustration (and number of !!!!!!!! marks!)Exactly the same problem and error message - I even put a fresh install of XP on my main PC to try and cure it but to no avail. I have now REINSTALLED FSX and am waiting for the error to pop up again:(Am really hoping that Holgers solution works if I get the same dreaded message or I'll have to send my FSX DVD back to play.comAdam
