August 13, 20205 yr Hi all, so it seems like they are leaving it to the 3rd partys to tweak the flight model. my only worry is there will be inherent problems with the base flight model which will be hard to overcome. It’s the only thing that could stand in the way of mfs2020 being what I always hoped it would be. i hope the 3rd parties will have enough freedom with the sdk and adobo can iron out any major problems before it’s too late rant over, can’t wait for next week!!!!
August 13, 20205 yr Can actually mean a lot, or not ... Take DCS World as an example. AFAIK the base SDK is rather crude, and implements only the "base" World physics for the rest to build up, as detailled as the information is avaliable and the developer tallented. We will find out in due time, but I recall having read a very nice and positive post by Robert Randazzo. I'm, honestly / desperately hoping for the best 🙂 Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
August 13, 20205 yr In todays Q&A they mentioned again that they are planning to deliver major updates over years to come. This sim might look totally different in two years than now. Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved
August 13, 20205 yr Author Feel a bit let down when remembering the aerodynamics discovery episode, almost like they ran out of time to get it to where they envisaged. I guess I assumed at least one aspect of the default flight model would be superior to a2as or pmdgs of the past. still looking forward to exploring the world, just a shame a2a won’t be ready with an aircraft at launch

Don't overrate the flight models of even some of the "top" 3rd parties... PMDG 747 of the past had a ridiculous behaviour with one engine inoperative and below VMCA... (Differently from e.g. LevelD 767 which behaved as the theory states). I wonder how many of the "serious simmers" who purchased it realized that... 😏 So, you never know... August 24, 20205 yr The Landings in the Xcub and Savage Cub are far too easy, you have to get it very wrong to even bounce,

August 27, 20205 yr Further to Flight model Accuracy. After spending some time my observations for the Savage Cub:* Landings: you have to try quite hard to make it bounce, in real life the type of Landing gear on the savage will encourage a bounce unless you get it right Torque/P factor/slipstream: on a taildragger with a clockwise turning prop (from cockpit) there will be a swing to the left when you raise the tail, how much is dependent on quite a few things. In the sim I first thought it completely left this out, but after a few more take offs realised it actually models a very slight swing but in the wrong direction...Hmmm Climb out: at Vx you should have to hold in a fair amount of right rudder to keep the ball straight, not modelled at all...no rudder input required it just stays straight. I have tried with Modern and legacy flight models, same results. I have all settings to the right Edited August 27, 20205 yr by Pathfinder633

It may have improved some since I started flying in the Alpha as I notice it less since release. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Hook You quite possibly just got used to it and so it seems to you like it has improved when it has not. Edited August 27, 20205 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

I didn't get used to the twitchy elevator on landings tho. 😄 Nah, but he was in Alpha for a while afaik. So I guess he should have had plenty of time to get used before.
