August 15, 20205 yr Still lots cheaper than a new Icon A5! And financing for only $600 per month!! Aw heck, Rob, you only live once. Ten years from now will you regret more buying the aircraft, or not buying it? Talk about a unique experience. Oh, and if you do decide to buy it, my home airport is F00 in Bonham, TX. 😄 😄 Fuel prices tend to be cheaper than nearby airports. As for the beverages and such, the old saying "I'll buy if you fly" applies. 😄 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
August 15, 20205 yr Enough of GA the addons people will put their money are medium and heavy airliners, both classic and modern, but the moderns are only a few since the flight industry nowadys is also reduced to just a few (737ng - A380 - 777) the 787 is already on default, plus the main commuter turboprops so the market is open for all the Pmdg conversions, Captainsim s, Aerosoft and a few classics that were forgotten in the last 20 years: 707 , 727 the Caravelle and 747-200 Edited August 15, 20205 yr by kapitan

Hook Airliners is where the money is. Either VA or would-be pilots The main airplane developer is exclusively specialized in airliners. Another company, Captain Sim, has survived in the sim market for more than 20 years with just vintage classic airliners Then you have the GA developers, like Carenado, which I like too...but as you have seen in the above comments... PS: just wait and see the day boarding animated passengers can be seen seated and you can walk from the cockpit and check them out...or interact thats for the next sim in 2 years? I expect a Flightsim similar to Second Life very soon Edited August 15, 20205 yr by kapitan

August 15, 20205 yr Besides I hear that the flight dynamics for airliners is kinda flaky right now (guessing its just the defaults, naturally) as compared to the smaller GA's (geez where have I heard this before, XP!) Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

It’s certainly a lot more work (and therefore arguably more entertaining and less “boring”) to manually manage your navigation and hand fly the route than to dial in a few programming buttons and allow the autopilot to do all of the work for you. I think the cool thing about flying airliners in the sim (and what keeps it less boring) is that it’s something most of us won’t ever do in real life, but GA flying is much more accessible. And in principle it probably feels more empowering to take control of the mechanical beasts over the tiny little Cessnas. But also, you can easily fly complex instrument procedures in a Boeing 737 in a sim and have no clue whatsoever how they work or even how to read the chart that comes with them because it’s as easy as pressing two buttons on the FMC and watching the fixes and altitudes enter the list. Flying instrument procedures in a Cessna takes knowledge of how to use VORs and how to read and interpret charts and the ability to do all of the above while simultaneously hand flying the airplane. August 15, 20205 yr Carenado make very nice aircraft. I have had a couple of them. I hope they create a Premiere 1 version for MSFS2020. MSFS2020 need a Concorde! August 15, 20205 yr Back in the Bad Old Days when "Serious Simmers" made up 90% of Avsim and they used to look down on and ridicule everyone who didn't fly the PMDG 737 NGX as not being worthy, I originally thought they might actually be special. Then I found out how they fly. Program the FMC, take off, put the plane on autopilot, set it to pause at top of descent, then go to dinner and a movie. Not only are they playing an arcade game, they're letting it play itself, and THEY'RE NOT EVEN WATCHING IT PLAY! And every week someone would ask, "If I can fly the 737 NGX, can I fly the real plane?" There were far too many "yes" answers. Now, unlike the other poster, I did not post "Enough airliners!" Typical GA fliers don't mind sharing the sim with airline pilots. The reverse is not necessarily true. They've finally made a sim "for the rest of us" and I couldn't be happier. On the Beta forum, even long time airliner-only simmers are going to GA flying. Because it is that good. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
