August 17, 20205 yr When you install with the store, the core FlightSimulator.exe is installed in the Windows App protected folder that you can't mess around with. The support files (Scenery Objects, .cfg etc..) are in an accessible folder where the content will go. If you install with STEAM, it should install the FlightSimulator.exe in wherever you choose meaning an unencrypted location. When you are using the sim FlightSimulator.exe whether Windows Store or Steam, the DLC and support files, multiplayer will all be the same. August 17, 20205 yr Author It's worth noting that unlike the brave and selfless residents of Kiribati, no one who purchased through Steam will be downloading and installing for the next 9 hours, so we are still dealing with speculation until the clock strikes midnight UTC-4 time / UTC 4:00AM. Go into windows settings/apps - select MSFS - select MOVE - that's it. The WindowsApps folder will be recreated in your new location. August 18, 20205 yr Author Well, being as my CH controllers are not recognized, I just spent my telecommute lunch break trying to figure out how to map / bind controls in this sim. To say it is far from being an intuitive, "frictionless" interface is a massive understatement. Ironically there is MUCH friction to it. But after 30 minutes of head scratching I now have Elevator and Aileron working from my Fighterstick, Rudder input working from my pedals, and (get this) not one but two side-by-side mappings showing up for "Reverse Throttle" mapped to the main axis of my Pro Throttle. And no way I can find to delete or cancel either of them. So maybe I can get the Cessna 152 off the ground backwards with reverse thrust and fly it like a canard. My point? I guess that instead of spending hours tweaking config files instead of flying, as was the norm in FSX, the new norm will be spending hours trying to second-guess the options and behavior of the bizarre and inexplicable Control Assignment screen. So I guess that's good news for the tinker/tweaker/non-fliers among us. Hoping that if I quit work early enough and skip dinner, I might be able to get off the ground at KHEF by midnight tonight, albeit with partial functionality.
