Yes, but his experiments with custom settings were to get good FPS at something close to Ultra. Considering that the best I could manage on my system in the same scenario was Medium, I have a hard time believing that the OP, with a system objectively older and less-powerful than mine, is able to easily run at high FPS on Ultra, unless he's only flying steam-gauge GA aircraft over flat rural areas. 

This game killed my psu no joke! Gpu crashed even on idle. I guess it wasnt strong enough to hold my overclock anymore. Went from a evga 500watt to a new bequiet 700watt and I swear my fps is 10-15 higher.. Tldr : don't skimp on a psu

I probably would too.  Where can I find one, because p3d is not that.  The only rational thing you might say performance wise about comparing the two would be akin to preferring the devil you know, to the one that you don't.  which I suppose is fair enough.  But if you want to pretend that using p3d is not an equivalent exercise in overlooking some pretty horrendous limitations, that's pretty delusional.  As I see it, a flight simmer today has three choices:

1.  A beautiful diamond in the rough with mass market support and intentions

2. A defense contractor training tool based on an ancient sim, and held together with Duct tape and expensive aftermarket spare parts.

3. Austin Meyer's flight dynamics school science fair project.

make any choice you like, by all means, but I wouldn't get all judgy and preachy about any of them.

I'm getting good frame rates, but I'm currently experiencing the stutters, some of which are caused by problems with SimConnect and some caused by the CPU spiking to 100 despite lowered resolutions and lowered settings. Asobo is well aware of both these problems, and I'm sure they'll be updating the sim soon to correct them.

Just a suggestion -- have you tried disabling the rolling and manual caches?

 

Update:  Never mind. I thought it had gotten rid of my pauses (not really even stutters), but it didn't...

Update

Just been doing some experimenting tonight with various Graphics settings and its effect on my RAM usage.

Up until now I've only seen just over 14mb if my 32 being used, however once I set texture detail to Ultra this seemed to make a big difference. Straight away I was over 16mb. 

 

The highest I saw was at JFK whilst flying around in a drone - 27mb used, GPU still at 99% - CPU (3900x) still whistling in the wind at 22%.
