This thing is stunning. Thank you again, Asobo/MS. And to all people considering a hardware upgrade: Just try it first. You might be really surprised how well it runs even on older hardware! I have the exactly same PC that you and agree completely with you. After some days of testing I am very happy with the performance. In my 1080 monitor and MED settings reach 50FPS. With vsync at half refresh (30FPS) Is very smooth even over dense cities and handcrafted airports Edited August 21, 20205 yr by Neito

I'm surprised that you feel that claiming that a user can run MSFS2020 on "ultra" setting on an ancient "i7 3770k with a GTX 970" is not misleading. Have you even tried the new sim? Those with low end systems are going to go through the hassle of downloading a large file, testing for hours, only to find out that an "ultra" setting will lead to a slideshow in about 80% of the areas that they want to explore. If I have learned anything over the last 25 years of the evolution of flight simming is that I've already been through the trials and tribulations. I've been through the learning, training, and experience. Today, if I install a sim, it better work out the box. It better be complete. It better feel right. If it doesn't meet my needs, it goes right to the trash bin. Stay safe Buddy! MSFS

August 21, 20205 yr Same here i7 4790k 4.4GHz, 1070, 16GB RAM. Running high settings but modified some options down a notch. Running like a dream in places like NY even in turbulent weather with traffic etc. Mightily impressed so far. I even had my finger on a brand new rig but will hold for a while now.... Yep, Jose, I have been around a few corners...but I shall always leave it up to the reader, to parse through any thread posting...and yes, I have tried the new sim...and running it on an 8 year old specification...AND...at 80-90 percent default Ultra...at 27-31 FPS. I started off on Tuesday morning at a default HIGH, and over the last three days..have increased each parameter..until I have what you can see on my morning post of the DARK SIDE (my humor...), My settings AND my computer spec's are right out there. What can be achieved...is in the 'pudding'...the pics and detail that is displayed, along with those settings. Now back to his comment. Jose...he is merely stating that with genuine happiness, he is able to run (for his needs..that I stress, not the reader's needs..that has to be defined by that very reader...) Ultra..or a mix 'n match of Ultra, that in fact Jose...does the trick for him. There are so many other postings in front of and behind his posting that can median this thoughts, if a reader wishes to grab a coffee and take a read and pulse of the forum. I still do not see that he was misleading. Obviously, you have not seen your needs being met at this time. I also can read that. If you look at my three days of forum contributions...it has been a journey from starting with default HIGH, that MSFS scanning my system suggested and pre-loaded...and over the last three days...I have put the pedal to the metal..upping this...upping that...dropping this...for that...and would then continue the flight. What I love about this sim..is how easy and CTD-free constantly going back to the setting pages..and upping and down playing all the settings in all permutation and those combo's has been. For myself, this morning...I have pretty much stabilized the sim (for my visual expectations) to pretty much be a full out Ultra tap in. So...yeah...for what he needs to see, he is running his legacy GPU at Ultra..or perhaps...a combo and mix 'n match calling it Ultra. Jose...I guess what I am saying..is that I allow everyone, to state how THEY see it..this or that...and merely pass it through my 'needs' grinder...with no harm done. My view on it, anyways...take care, and fly what you need to meet your personal mandate, and I'm sure you already have that! 🙂 Cheers Jose, here's my post with pics and MSFS settings... The 1070 is plowing through it all! 🙂

I'm still waiting for solid comparisons between low/medium/high/ultra settings across a range of hardware. Guru3D have done that. I’d post a link but if you put msfs performance in google it’s pretty much at the top. youll find a 2080ti at ultra settings getting 51 FPS at 1080 resolution.

For those that prefer the 'tubes...they will have to make their due diligence with that in mind. For myself...MSFS has been mostly OMG, in every flight!

First of all, I have to admit that I've made a stupid typo in my post since it is a GTX 980 which of course plays an important role here... but that still does not change the general message. That hardware is far from what I have considered to be necessary to run this thing smoothly. But it is doing so. If you don't believe me, I cannot do anything about it. Sure, if I go flying between the skyscrapers of Manhattan, with thunderstorms around and AI traffic on then it's not the best experience you can have. But I have never claimed that. In most (>90%) situations the sim is running absolutely fine even over large cities. And to prevent that next discussion, no, not at good old 1024x768 pixels but on a 21:9 widescreen at 3440x1440 pixels. It feels smooth and responsive, smoother than some other flight sim with far less complex weather and scenery around. No doubt, it probably runs better on modern hardware. But I insist that it's not misleading to encourage people that own my type of hardware to just try it. It absolutely worth it and I personally have not expected that by far.
