Is it me, or is cloud turbulence not really a thing here?

Is there a source for that? We've heard a lot of speculation about the wx engine (lags behind by 1-2 hours, predicts the future by 1-2 hours, isn't on, doesn't simulate this or that, *does* simulate this or that, etc) so if you have a source that it's intentionally not simulated, that would be very interesting.

The source is me. 🙂 Sorry.

Just do an enlightening experiment: fly into a "CB" formation in MSFS. Nothing!

Then do the same in X-Plane 11. You´ll breake the aircraft! YES! Breake the aircraft.

By the way, thermal turbulence from convective currents is not simulated as well. This is very very common in real world. It´s a pity.

There's a difference between "not simulated" and "a bug is breaking the simulation."  One is an omission that would amount to false advertising, the other is a mistake that will presumably get fixed.

absolutely right

In this case it appears to be "not simulated"

if it was some "turbulence" option to disable, turn down, etc., would appear in Weather settings. We have rain, wind and snow but not turbulence there.

And I bet i know why.

They thought if allowed to realistic turbulence as in nature kids in xbox would lose control and be discouraged to use the "game"

"lets keep it smooth and safe"

Yes. Not simulated

I hope there is a way third parties like Active Sky can include it using Meteoblue predictions

No, it appears to be a bug.

That's just a scripted effect. Not an actual simulation of air mass.

Still MUCH better than nothing or than a smooth flight inside a CB

Maybe its not ready, they rather disable it to keep adjusting and release it as an SP later on.

Most of all some mention of Turbulence should appear in the Weather Settings, like "enable windshear" if it was just a bug

Sure if you're happy with previous generation flight sims.

Once this is fixed in MSFS, it will be so much better than scripted X-Pain.

I've already seen it work in MSFS.

Turbulence is a function of the weather so doesn't make sense to have a separate option for it. Once it's fully fixed of course

Asobo will soon be out of the scene, their role is done. They were hired to make the default models and and FDE, which they prepared in a fantastic way in the Cesna 152, the other planes are more like liveries, just to fill up the library

That is complete and utter buffalo cookies! Asobo have a ten year contractual commitment to continuously update Flight Simulator.

Keep your Fake News behind your teeth...

Have you watch the credits yet? Count the number of folks who've been working on this for the past six years.

Well to be fair, Aces was wiped completely - save for half a dozen of devs retained to "fulfill" contractual duties. More outlandish events has happened.

In a global mega company like MS, if they want to opt out, they will. No contract will ever stop that.

ok, they stay ten years. What i meant is, the role of the default plane makers diminishes with time. As third party developers take over.

However Microsoft s grip is in the Bing mapping and that will keep evolving, together with the live interactions of the sim with weather and pilots, and the development of intelligent text-to-speech applied to atc

Bing needs the 3D to prevail with the competition and ai.Blackshark is providing them with just that at the same time improving the sim
