Active Camera - I Miss You!!

Featured Replies

I don't want to have to monkey around with the cameras.cfg to develop new or additional virtual cockpit views. The first addon I MUST have is an easy to use camera utility to create vc views. The developer to create this will be rich overnight, thanks to Microsoft's neglect!

HiActive camera was 1st addon i installed into fs2004,and quickly became my favourite addon .i also miss it.:( steve

Same here. I'm hoping some clever developer will make a tool to edit the views easily, like AC could. Must be possible...

I was on the Active Camera camp as a must but when I bought Head Tracker IR I found that you cant have both. I decided to not use the Head Tracker IR pro 4 even though it cost me a lot of money because I like the effect of active camera better. In FSX they offer something simular to Active Camera and I like the things it does that Active Camera doesnt. Like when you take off your view pans back a bit like your being pushed back in the seat and visa versa on stopping. You can pan and zoom in FSX close to how you could with Active Camera. If you look in the assignment settings or config file (I forget which one) there are more views to assign then any other thing.Hopefully Head Tracker IR will work with FSX and I will now get the best of both worlds. However there are many things that active camera offers that FSX doesnt have and it is sad that the author wont be making it for FSX.

Yea... I got spoilt with AC too. What I miss the most is the ....effect when rolling down the runway. You can feel the strut movement. Here, it is dead. There is no movement when on the ground. Unless there is a setting somewhere, that I don't know about.MannyPS: I also kind of liked doing "x" from the VC view when on the ground and then walking about the airport to see the beauty of all the addon airports.

From what I've read about the SDK (OK, admittedly it's not a huge amount but enough), it seems that camera views will be very adaptable in FSX, so it's likely to be an area where there will be lots of add-ons in due course from people into the development side.

I've said this before...and I'll say it again! (seems the only way people take notice!)I like what you can do with the new cameras in FSX, BUT! I really miss two things:1- The ability to walk round the cabin, and ouside.2- The way you could save and recal positions in the VC view.PLEASE! - Can somebody make a utility that does atleast these two???

I personally prefer the FSX setup. Addon developers should be including the camera views from the start, saves us having to constantly mess around making new views for each new addon plane.I also find the FSX setup easier to use than Active camera, especially for cycling between camera views, and there is no stuttering to the head latency, which was always a problem for me with Active camera.Active camera was great for FS9, but I prefer the FSX camera system.

>I also find the FSX setup easier to use than Active camera,>especially for cycling between camera views??? The great thing about AC was that you didn't have to CYCLE at al!!! That's what I do not like about the FS X system! In AC you could instantly go to the view you wanted (with a beautifull transition). In FS X you have to cycle through views you don't need to get where you want and cycle again trought views you don't need to get back again.... Also setting up views in AC was a breeze (just click Ctrl-#) and a hundred time more userfiendly to setup than the FS X system (editing lots of entries i cfg's and then reloading the plane).Almost sounds like you never used AC the way it was meant to be... ;)

I`m missing the tower in the map. Is there any posibility to position a fixed outside view?el_capit

also lets not forget the way you could just right click anywhere on the screen to set the tower view position for nice replay angles!...or the way you could see the cockpit vibrating around you as you roll out at speed for take off...and yes, saving the views on the fly..these were my 3 favirote reasons for using...and now missing active camera..the fsx cameras are an improvement over default fs9 cameras...but its nowhere near as good as AC and never will be.Dave
