August 22, 20205 yr Based on below benchmarks, looks like existing computer hardware don’t have sufficient juice to handle MSFS on ultra high definition and with the graphics set to very high. The 2080 ti and 2080 super struggled to keep up with MSFS during the benchmark. Some of the stuttering could be the result of GPU bottleneck and not necessarily MSFS. Will the 3080 ti or 3080 super be able to crush MSFS? It’s possible that the game is ahead of hardware technology. Edited August 22, 20205 yr by Huascar Change
August 22, 20205 yr every ms fs has been that way, so lets be glad. i run it fine (for me) on just a 1050ti card.......so i consider it very well optimised, contrary to what a lot of ppl say..hehe

FSX never was fully compatible with future hardware let alone at release. P3D needed dang near an $800 video card to get optimal performance (Lockheed working with old FSX code). They build this software to become more amazing as hardware catches up. Again I'm enjoying the sim on 'HIGH' settings. The only thing I have in Ultra is the buildings and ground scenery. August 22, 20205 yr Author Playing it on 4K with graphics set to ultra is out of the question then unless one is willing to digest persistent stuttering. Edited August 22, 20205 yr by Huascar
August 22, 20205 yr The people who have a vanilla setup and have stuttering issues are in the minority. The majority of people who have these issues seem to be those who are using 3rd party addons to connect into the sim such as FSCUIP, SimConnect even Bluetooth peripherals (this was an issue in the alpha). There was event a thread about BIOS settings people had applied for P3D that cause issues if not reverted. I am therefore convinced that most of the people having these issues have them due to a non-vanilla setup. I have top of the line setup...literally everything is vanilla no overclocking etc. and I have 0 issues.

Start modestly and increase the graphics accordingly. Your PC will let you know when it’s reached capacity. Tweaks to trick the hardware rarely succeed.

August 22, 20205 yr Lol so frustrating to hear all these people (the majority) with ‘perfectly smooth flights’ my hardware is decent and I am actually running it 1 preset lower than recommended (medium instead of high) stutter galore.. un flyable.... waiting for patch...
August 22, 20205 yr Author I guess smooth flying is subjective and thus the diversity of opinions. On the other hand, the popular belief is that flight simulation is the most taxing game on the hardware. Any GPU or CPU capable of running flight simulation smoothly can run any game. Flight Simulation is the ultimate test for any hardware. Why are we surprised about the stuttering and maxed out GPUs? We know the drill. Edited August 22, 20205 yr by Huascar
August 22, 20205 yr Been tweaking the last week. Capping my frames to 30fps in nvidia control panel has helped me a lot- with vsync on in game with the 60fps option. Seriously if you haven't tried this give it a go. Once you get a smooth framerate start tweaking options up. Gpu is only working 60% for me like this but runs at full clock and rides out the stutters. Turn on gpu hardware scheduling on in Windows graphics settings if you have it available Also if your using a rolling cache make sure this and the games folder are in your antivirus exception lists. If your cpu is being maxed out whilst playing you can lower the ground texture and object sliders to help. (you really need to use something like msi afterburner to see what's going on when you're playing) Start on low graphics settings then step them up one at a time. Hopefully some of the above will help you Edited August 22, 20205 yr by Colemanuk82

Game runs smoothly for the most part, but with airliners I get stutters all over the place, regardless of settings. Not sure if I'm the minority, but I think this is effecting enough people to warrant some improvements.
