Cessna Longitude unusable in the sim

Featured Replies

I hate to say this but a much needed patch is in order for the Longitude (which is actually a great aircraft).  I already posted some of this but after testing I'm confirming my findings:

1.  Turning on the wind indicator on the PFD for upper layer wind speed/direction causes CTD

2. Skipping waypoints on a long flight which was a selling feature of the sim has the aircraft popping back up in the new location with all settings in the cockpit back to start (AP speed at zero, altitude settings at zero, etc)

3. In mid flight all glass gauges go dark with no way to turn them back on.  The Longitude has no backup traditional gauges so your dead in the air especially at night

4. Sim acceleration causes the autopilot to oscillate in flight so this is not an option

So in a nutshell you can't get this plane from point A to B without one of the above happening even if you flew the route in real time.  Sad but I hope there's a fix.  I've posted this in the Microsoft forums just a heads up here.

File with Zendesk so they can work on it. I havnt flown many aircraft yet so cant say if it would do all that for me. Oh how I wish I could have been on vacation so I could fly. Only had 2 blasted days to test and fly.

Make sure you use the Zendesk portal to post the bugs... You can never quite know how much the team is monitoring forum threads (apologies if you did that already, but couldn't tell from your description if you just posted in a forum thread or used the portal).  Zendesk will create a ticket that at least gets tracked. This is definitely the type of feedback they need.

Thanks, just sent them a ticket.  Something we all need to do when we find something.

Try letting the AI fly it and watch it fly. Was interesting to see how it runs it. I turned it off and then back on and watched the AI put it in a spin flew itself into the ground - pretty funny 🙂

Thanks for posting this as I have found exactly the same issues.

Fuel issues, AI behavior issues, issues with uncontrollable aircraft when using the Travel To feature.

I also logged a bug on this and hope that they will address it soon.

I think there is general issues with the AI Crew in regards to misbehaviour and fuel usage.

I don't understand this. There are dozens of flights with the Longitude on youtube.

Good point.  Try a medium to long range flight yourself and see do you make it without a CTD.

That works in none of the planes, at least if you follow a flight plan. I jumped to descent in the Neo and then it would try to turn around aiming for the waypoint it missed. Of course I intervened, showing the bus who's the boss and rammed the thing into the ground.

For this issue I believe your generators are not turned on. I had this happen a few minutes into the flight, enabled the generators and glass gauges come back on.

I only have the base edition with the gamepass subscription, but there are plenty of medium and long range flights with the Longitude on youtube.

I'm sure it's just as buggy as the other planes, but unusable?

Not going to argue, it’s well documented on the FS forums.  Unusable means if you can’t get from point A to B without a CTD it’s basically unusable.  Even with a used car you should be able to get it home.  It doesn’t CTD all the time especially on short routes but I haven’t been unable to get from Orlando to Denver with it or any similar route.  Why don’t you get the upgrade yourself and see if you fair better?  Then we can have an informed discussion.  If it works for you it could be your RAM or a better video card.  Going by YouTube doesn’t always work as we all have different rigs.  Many simmers have $3,000+ rigs doing their best to get around the legacy FSX code whether it be Steam Addition or P3D.  I have close to the recommended specs for FS2020 and I’m telling you it’s a cra..p shoot if you make it to your destination.

Correct.  I figured that out awhile ago but can’t amend the original post.

The Longitude is my main aircraft, it has all the things to navigate wherever you want to go.  You can use time rate, but don't try to increase more than two times.  I've never had the panels go out, sounds like your generators aren't set.  I've never tried skipping waypoints, so i can't speak to that.

I've done some tutorials on flying the Longitude, you can find one at:

Any thought on the CTD issue on longer flights?  I’ve shut down background apps, unneeded services, etc.
