300 GB rolling cache...a long....long time to create!

Featured Replies

Just to let you know...it took over an hour to create the cache file on my HD.  Had the room, so figured to increase the cache size from what the program created, which was only 8GB...and I took it off my C(:) drive...where it is created by default.  Actually more like an hour and a half...

Wait when you do a Manual Cache in the same size ... took me quite some time too on a NVME SSD.

I was sitting and sitting...and then to heck with this...shut down the monitor...turned off the soundbar...and went and watched an  episode of season 5 Lucifer...LOL!  Came back 1.5 hours later....and it was just finishing off.  I thought it was only going to create a growing file that stopped at 300 GB's..but no...it MADE a file already the size of 300 GB's...didn't expect that....

I did the same exact thing, made mine 300gb and moved it to my other drive..Took a long time, For me was probably about an 45 minutes to an hour. Not even sure it was necessary lol.

Have you seen an sort of a plus-side usage improvement for having done so?  My 300GB Rolling Cache is wondering...!

Nope, I used it at 8gb for the first few days, then up’d it to 300gb, haven’t noticed anything different yet.

I dunno...loved seasons 1-4..but this current one...I dunno.....still watching...it sort of ...the script writing/episode story lines,  sort of feels, like it has lost the season 1-4 pizzaz, somehow...BUT...it's great for when generating a 300 GB rolling cache...highly recommend! 🙂

"Dang...but then, it was a good reason to watch Lucifer Season 5, E4!   It came in hand for that, to date! :)"

3TB. Did it overnight.

Oh Jeez...I hope it shows up somehow beneficial over having the default 8GB!

May I enquire why do you create such a massive cache? I don't feel like running numbers here, but it would take forever to fill that cache by just flying around. And if you have connection speed sufficient to fill that enormous cache, then why do you even need cache in the first place?

I have mine disabled.

episodes 1-5 were a bit boring, was the first season i pressed the fast-forward button on netflix but the last few episodes were good.  Are you yet at the episode where someone in the show finds out Lucy is the devil😁😱  watch this, best lucifer video on yt made by a fan.

Creating the cache, either rolling or manual takes a really long time even on an SSD. I made a 512GB one for my manual cache, but decide at this point it isn't worth it, because with a cache this large, the more regions you create, the more it slows down your entire system to the point where everything becomes unresponsive. I just deleted my manual cache and just made a 64GB rolling cache for the time being until Asobo can improve and work out all the kinks with the manual cache feature.

That is about what I had in ortho4xp files amd i don't have anything else to do with that space.
