Upsamping 30 to 120 FPS for smooth play, (video)

Featured Replies

So, we all need to buy a TV now to get a smooth FS experience?

Wow, this looks really smooth. Compared to a even more high end graphic card, a 120 Hz TV looks like a deal!

I hope this helps. Made a quick video showing the look of locking MSFS2020 to 30fps and using a tv to upsample it to 120fps.

which tv  and settings?  what are the PC specs?

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

So this is actually live. This is really cool. Are there any monitors with this functionality?

Frame interpolation works of course, but with 3/4 interpolated frames you have an input lag increased by at least 100 ms (+ the intrinsic contribution of the TV).

This may still be acceptable for a slow pace flight simulation but it's far from ideal. We need a fix for the cockpit screens, hopefully with the first patch.

But if it really looks like this example? Who needs anything else in FS2020 unless you're in a fighterjet? Who needs to worry about what you are mentioning? Or am I missing something?

Is there a way for the end user to edit the scenery to remove trees from streets and weird looking 3D objects ?

Undoubtedly it looks exactly as in the video posted, but don't forget that this is a videogame, not a movie. You interact with the plane and send it commands, push buttons, etc. With frame interpolation and the input lag caused by the TV, basically every response is delayed. It could still be enjoyable for a slow FS of course...

Ahh,  🙂 So there might be an actual delay between.... say a joystick movement and response/action in airplane.

The delay from what I have seen is a non issue in MSFS 2020.

The delays normally caused by Vsynch can be greatly minimized by using the Nvidia  "Fast Sync" option. The delay caused by video processing Upscale frame interpolation will depend on the TV model, but it was not enough to cause any noticeable  yoke input control delay on My samsung Q7 tv.
