Did we get a time for when they will give us their update (not talking about the update to the gamefiles)?

It's usually very late here in central europe, so my educated guess is around 0:00z

Happy with MSFS 🙂
home simming evolved

Deleted - sorry! 🙂

There is NO update today.

There should be and my recollection is it's usually fairly late zulu time, please note as OP explained this is "news update" and not an update of the game itself:

I used to get updates around 6 or 7pm est. Gonna be a long day. I'm anxious to see how quickly they will get the first patch to us. I should hope quickly to squash some of these annoying bugs that break core features.

As I read it, the post does not say the update will be released today, just that the release date will be announced today.

It doesnt specifically say that we wont get an update today, but that the announcement of WHEN it will be released will happen today. It COULD be that they say that the patch will go live in a few hours 🙂 However, seeing that we probably wont get the update news untill midnight CET, then most optimistic guess will be we get the patch tomorrow 🙂

They have so many huge issues to fix and all i read on the website are minor issues.

Addressing the major slowdowns when using SimConnect or removing all the intro nonsense unskippable logos or adding the possibility of changing aircraft during a session would be very welcome. Also slow loading times even on an 8-core CPU with PCIE SSDs is something i wouldn't expect in 2020.

Having peoples clients crash and unable to install etc are not minor issues, and those should take priority. However, they can't have a 100% of their staff work on only 1 thing, so we are of course getting fixes to a lot of different things. The major issues that involves people not being able to play at all will of course come first.

My guess is that they will issue rolling small patches that address a few key issues at a time. Expecting a massive "Service Pack" that fixes a huge number of issues at once is unlikely and for the developers, potentially more risky as they can introduce fresh bugs. A huge update will also mean we have to wait longer. It took the developers a couple years to get to where they are. Expecting everything to be fixed in a couple weeks is unrealistic.

Apparently they’re on the SimConnect issue.

The SDK includes a way to skip the fanfare.

Yes i have made a shortcut myself to skip everything, only to go into a blank screen with the "PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE" message. But hey, it's an improvement i guess.

I just would like to click on the icon, have some sort of splash screen letting me know it's starting and get to the selection screen immediately. Like this it just looks like a game and it's very annoying.

TBH I expected this sim to have much more frequent updates. If the next update is 2 weeks to a month away, and will focus only on installation/downloads issues it will be very disappointing.

The sim is very nice looking but has some major annoying show stoppers issues.
