Low, Med, High, and Ultra settings do not have en effect on the quality of ground textures loaded for a specific area. Your Terrain LOD slider controls how close to the plane they are rendered, but even at Terrain LOD of 10, if you fly low enough, you will get the highest resolution texture available for that area. A low graphic area can look stunning if the underlying photographic data looks good. And the lowest settings make Vanilla FSX look bad in comparison. I know I sound like a "fanatical male child under the age of 10" but as someone who has battled Flight simulator their entire adult life, let me tell you. This release has me Gobsmacked. I remember my excitement when FS98 announced that it would have Direct3D support, and then aghast at how poorly it was executed. Literally mindcraft clouds built out of white blocks. I actually defected to Pro Pilot 99 for awhile because I had a 3dfx card and it was night an day. The release is OVERALL very nice looking, but there are a few things that, as a programmer myself, I can definitely see an issue in there being a disconnect between the people that are controlling what bugs get fixed and the team implementing the bug fixes. Why do I see a disconnect, because there are some bugs that are literally one-code block fixes that are 20-30 minutes of dev work (maybe a bit more work in the integration test). Heck, there are some bugs that are just a single missing if statement or two. I know it takes time to get this into an integrated build (even a simple fix), but there has to be some proper balance of installer issues and game issues. Look, I hope I'm wrong about this, but it almost seems like they left all the programmers that are working on the installers to keep going, and then they moved the old programmers working on the actual game mechanics to a different project (let's hope not), but this will become more clear over the next 3 months of how Asobo and Microsoft are really managing the project, as far as adding or finalizing broken functionality. I do hope you are correct and that they re-prioritize the patches and fixes to improve everything, but I'm most concerned about the SDK, since that is ultimately the limiting factor of what can be improved by third parties. If they can at least greatly enhance the SDK, a lot of these things will be fixed anyhow. AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

Angle of attack (AOA) is the angle between the oncoming air or relative wind and a reference line on the airplane or wing. Sometimes, the reference line is a line connect- ing the leading edge and trailing edge at some average point on the wing. Less and Less software companies have a "sustaining engineering team". Two reasons. 1. It rarely brings in any additional revenue. 2. Developers hate cleaning up someone elses code. When MSFS was completely in house the Dev team stayed pretty consistent and such. This product has been largely contracted out. MS will have to see if they want to continue to pay the software house for fixes and the like, or if they cut bait. I hope this is a new era for MSFS and not just a one off.

Yup, it's the age of sacrifice everything you can to satisfy the bean counters. Hopefully they realize an important fact though, the sim will be handicapped a bit if they don't address the issues in the SDK, so hope there is that. AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

If, as they stated in the interview regarding bug fixing (50 bugs a day). Then, as of today they probably got 600 squashed, and by the time they release the patch they probably will have nailed close to 1000. 😂 🤣 Hope they fix the Install and Run bugs first and foremost. August 27, 20205 yr I’m frustrated that they haven’t even publicly acknowledged that live weather is 75% broken for all of the United States. Winds aloft are always 225@3. Airport winds may report 20 kts on the ATIS but are never more than 3 kts. The only time I’ve experienced flying in wind is in the landing challenges. The ATIS always says visibility 3 even when it’s clear out.
August 27, 20205 yr The items on the current Known Issues list that they disclosed in the FAQ section (NOT the list linked by the OP) is actually somewhat encouraging. There are several items under "Miscellaneous" that it is encouraging to hear acknowledged. Some of the bullet points there (AP issues, Garmin functionality, VNAV, etc) are fairly broad in scope, and they would be significant if they are going to be addressed in the near term. I would agree I would like to see the obvious bugs in Live Weather addressed, but I am willing to wait a bit and continue to use Zendesk to see what else is identified. August 27, 20205 yr I heard all the developers were issued a large amount of Microsoft stock, all hoped onto their own little private TBM's, and flew away to their own private islands (in formation), to never be heard from again. AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
