Personally I've just disabled photogrammetry and went with the ai buildings until they address this issue. The photogrammetry looks great when you're right above but in the distance it is absolutely terrible. Even when manually cached, the distant buildings look like they are melting Don't know what to say guys. This seems once again to be one of those issues that is passing me by. In the alpha, we had this problem. And even shortly after release. But some time after that, the problem seems to have at least mostly gone away for me (knock on wood) and I assumed everyone else. If you look at the picture, you will see that rather than melted clay, my photogrammetry buildings are recognizable structures even at long distances, and at night (if I pretty much press my nose against my monitor screen) I can even see the teeny tiny window lights! 🤔 Not sure whats up. September 6, 20205 yr does LOD have anything to do with reflections of mirrored buildings? they just don't look great seems every bridge is solid underneath..shadowing issues i guess. be nice if the buildings actualy reflected in the sun

Asobo may yet surprise us on that, as PG generally also has no night lighting, yet they somehow managed to (mostly) apply some globally. 5 minutes ago, simking1 said: seems every bridge is solid underneath True. But they have gradually been replacing them with actual models. There are even some freeware replacements out there, and I suspect third parties will probably chime in on that as well. September 6, 20205 yr I have had this problem since day one, try to land in KVNY 34 and let me know if it looks as bad as mine: I have tried everything, Rolling cache on/off, LOD 100/150/200, Saved Cache, and nothing works. My internet is 500MB and to give you an idea I download MSFS2020 in around 1 hour. Ramon De Valencia AMD 9950X3D / 64GB DDR5 6000MHz / RTX 5090 / 1200 watt PSU MSFS 2020 and 2024
September 6, 20205 yr Same issue here. No matter how high the settings, photogrammetry objects are spawned very sparsely just a few miles away and then more objects pop up and textures are continuously morphing when getting closer. It totally destroys the immersion. Apparently the LOD distance for photogrammetry objects is significantly lower than for non-photogrammetry objects with the same settings. Outside of photogrammetry areas I very rarely see any popping or morphing at all. I have disabled photogrammetry for now.
September 6, 20205 yr Commercial Member Also have the same issue. I first thought it was my internet connection however I manually cached Barcelona and it looks the same.
September 6, 20205 yr Has anyone reported this to Asobo? I haven’t seen it mentioned on the feedback update. Need to make sure it doesn’t go under the radar.

Here's what I got : Spoiler For the purpose of this test I've set my Terrain LOD to 200. As you can see, no forests in NYC so no issues like in the vicinity of Atlanta where I'm from. It looks quite fair from high above but as I get closer to the ground the buildings never get fully loaded. But I'm a bit surprised and have to say that NYC photogrametry has not as many issues than I have in Georgia or other areas. Seems region-dependant ?!

No, the problem there seems to be simply very bad photogrammetry, exacerbated by parts of the airport itself being photogrammetry, and the entire general area suffering form bad PG of the sort, that can only be fixed by simply turning off PG. There are simply some areas like this in the sim. Many were noted during the alpha/beta (you should have seen how horrible a lot of California was!) Time for the third parties or freeware guys to step in, until Asobo gets around to doing something. Make sure to report it. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... September 7, 20205 yr So I guess this sim is sorta snake oil. Too many people with really decent setups are getting really bad photogrammetry. Watching the trailers and listening to the alpha and beta testers you’d think the sim was perfect. Kinda thought photogrammetry was the crowning achievement and now lots of people are just turning it off. I always felt the sim seemed too good to be true. Guess I was right
September 7, 20205 yr My question is....why are trees being drawn like they are photogrammetry? The buildings make sense...the trees? Can they not have the ai place them along with the photogrammetry? FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠 Matt Kubanda, 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5090@4k, MSFS 2024

As I understand it, its all just shapes and patterns to the ai, which doesn't have an eye as discerning as a humans when figuring out which shape is a tree and which is a building, much less accurately flattening the mesh and substituting a 3D tree. (once it even decides it is indeed looking at a tree and not a rock or a car or....) There's a lot that can (and obviously does) go wrong with the process. (No open spaces beneath buildings and elevated roads, etc) Presumably Asobo/microsoft/blackshark are working hard to make the ai more accurate, but..... WIP We are all connected.....
