How you change from wifi to hard-wired ethernet?

You go from wireless to physically connecting your pc to one of your router ports using a ethernet cable.

I was having CTD's and I followed a guide similar to this. In essence, the goal seems to be to remove main thread limitations by dialing down the settings. AI seems to have a big impact, and my guess it is the process of generating the AI that is causing issues. It is really low hanging fruit.

Other things to check are overclocks on the CPU and GPU. Also, check your memory settings. I originally had my memory set at XMP 2. I eliminated the CTD's by dropping to XMP 1, and redoing my crude CPU OC.

I do think the sim will expose instability in ways that stability testing doesn't. Maybe someone will develop a benchmarking/stability testing tool off of MSFS one day.

Many tks

Get yourself some ethernet cable (Cat5, 5E, 6, ect), of sufficient length to reach from your computer box to your router. Insert one end of the cable into back of your computer box into the appropriate receptacle, the other end into the back of your router. In most cases, Windows 10 will immediately switch over from Wi-Fi to ethernet connection. In my case, I had to purposely turn off my Wi-Fi-signal to make sure that there was no ambiguity. Happy simming!

All that is happening is that users are loading the sim up with add-on airports, aircraft mods, AI liveries, weather injectors, etc. and the sim is collapsing under its own weight, just like P3d5 does. Some of the problem is that the hardware is insufficient for the task and some is due to conflicts among various pieces of software.

The way to isolate the issue is to do the following:

1. Move everything out of your community folder. No mods.
2. Create a basic default nvidia profile.
3. Turn off real-time weather, ai traffic, and multiplayer.
4. In devmode uncheck volumetric atmospheric effects.
5. Set the graphic preset options to low.
6. Turn off rolling and manual caches.
7. No overclocking of your GPU, CPU or RAM.
8. Unplug all USB devices.
9. Do not run antivirus, process lasso, MSI afterburner, or any other gaming tools. Make sure your browser is closed and kill anything non essential.
10. Make sure Windows is up to date. No errors.
11. Make sure your video drivers are up to date.

Once you have done all this go ahead and create a baseline flight. Clear skies. Use AP and have it fly from one location to another, for say 30 minutes. If you get no CTD then one by one start turning back on each item 1-9. Do the same flight after each change. One change at a time. Take notes.

Yes, me too. I can't get near Seattle unless I'm in the Cessna 172.  I can load a viable flight at Tacoma Narrows.  Also KSEA seems to be OK at night [Edit-- no, it loads but CTD either shortly before or after take-off].

JFK seems to be another one.

I've tried tinkering with settings til I'm sick of it.  I reinstalled it on a new m.2 drive.  The load times are so slow that troubleshooting these is time-consuming and excruciating.  It's way too late now to get a refund.  The tech support is nigh useless.

I have a thread below discussing this; also w/ my specs (except for the new m.2 drive) and a screenieof the memory exception error message that sometimes appears.
