Four days of topics on page 1.  Where did everyone go?

That is normal when you have a sim without any issues, you spend almost all the time flying rather than exploring the forums for troubleshooting.

It's certainly very quiet these days, compared with that other forum. Perhaps it's because P3D, especially 4.5 HF3 is working reasonably well for most users, and they can enjoy a reliable simulator experience. Version 5.0 has some issues, which have already been highlighted, so I suppose those users are just waiting for 5.1.

There are quite a few P3D users also trying MSFS, and spending their time on that forum pointing out the differences between the hype and actual user experience. Initially those posts were often flamed in a very childish way, but there is now some sign of people having to recognise issues they previously denied. The more interesting and constructive posts usually involve long time AVSIM members who would otherwise be posting here about P3D. I expect many of them will be back here again.

Not much to talk about. Fewer people are buying V5 add-ons, we've talked to death about V5's issues, and we're basically just waiting for 5.1 at this point.

I have been trying MSFS in VFR only in 4K ULTRA full streaming i will not be buying major airport addons for this sim or aircraft, it has so many issues to work though it could take over 6 months or more they fix something and break something else, but i have purchased some addons for V5 in the past 4 weeks and will purchase more but holding off for the sales which will come for V5 addons.

The MSFS forum raises a topic ever hour and like the pre-release the same thing over and over again mostly issues in the sim.

Because like it or not (read the scenery development thread in this forum), this is a dying platform. 3PD's, especially scenery dev's are heading to MSFS and seeing huge sales numbers. I highly doubt any scenery dev's are starting a new airport project for P3D when they will see 5 to 10 times the sales in MSFS like FSDT currently is with KORD. Whether we like it or not gent's we are in the minority and that minority grows smaller and smaller. There will be a surge of activity when 5.1 drops but thats about it. When the quality airliners start showing up in MSFS in a year or so it will get even quieter around here.

Stop reading the Avsim forums read the developers forums they are working on addons for V5, and updating there present v4 addons for v5 LLH Creation has just updated there scenery`s to v5.

I'm still enjoying P3D very much. I'm running v4.5hf3 with plenty of good and working aircraft (both GA and airliners), tons of airports and other add-on utilities (AIG, GSX, ActiveSky, ProATC/X, to name a few). When you have a working and mature platform that performs very well and it's stable you don't find a good reason to rush and move into the others like P3Dv5 and the newest MSFS. Their times will come. At the very end, the purpose of all our hobby is to enjoy flying, isn't it?.

That's a silly thing to post anywhere, but it's a particularly silly thing to post on a P3D forum.

I just checked, and my Prepar3d v5 install is very much alive and well!

Yeah... I have been playing with the new kid on the block too.

The vast majority of my hours the past twenty years have been in a DC3, upwards of 2400 logged. Up in the air at this point if someone will develop a native DC3 for the new toy. There have been attempts to port over the MJ DC3, but I guess it broke with the update.

I'm awaiting P3Dv5.1 to come and get it's first hotpatch. I'll upgrade to V5 then and more likely than not log more hours in the old girl. My "early adapter days" are over (he say's after downloading the new toy on day 2).

Been trying to teach myself tubeflying as well, but that has for sure has gone by the wayside recently.

It truly is a great time for flight simming. Running the risk of not being "PC", but A LOT of these new arm chair pilots coming into the community don't seem to have any interest in learning to fly. They want to just press buttons. Wonder where that comes from?

Agree about the dev's migrating to where the revenue stream flows. They have bills to pay and debt to service too.

Cheers,

You are completely wrong.

Making a scenery/aircraft is the most work. Converting the result into XP, FSX, P3D and MSFS is not so much work.

At this moment MSFS is the hype as addon developers can sell existing Addons again for MSFS .

After that Addons will be released for multiple platforms : if you can sell an Addons multiple times why not ? ...

Four days of topics on page 1.  Where did everyone go?

I think the forum has been a mess this year due to a certain other sim. Post after post gets derailed by discussion of it. At times, it becomes a "let's dance on P3D's grave' forum.

The Prepar3d community also didn't do itself any favors with its v4 vs v5 civil war.

I think a lot of people just got sick of it all and moved on. When I look back at forum posts from a few years ago, I see a lot more quality information being shared.

Moving forward, we need to start posting more about Prepar3d itself, addons, what we're doing with the sim, tweaks (if you insist), tips - whatever it takes to build a thriving community again. To the mods, I'd respectfully suggest - try not to move posts out of this forum. It needs more content, and of people want to discuss an issue here, then let the discussion run.

I'm still very excited about Prepar3d personally, and I'm sure there's plenty of others out there who are actively flying the sim and would love to have a place to talk about it.

Are you talking about 2400 sim-hours, and if so are you flying Manfred's version? Not a DC3 expert myself.

As for tubeflying - if you haven't flown the Leonardo Maddog, I would strongly recommend it. It's a joy to fly in v4/v5.

Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder.
