E.A in Beta format...so what shall it morph to?

Recommended Posts

I think the other question would be how long before it works properly with HiFi?  We of course will want those nice smooth WX transitions!!

There hasn't been a new beta of Active Sky for P3d5 released recently, so my guess is that HiFi may be testing AS with the next beta of P3d5. Or maybe they are just working on Active Sky for MSFS. In any case, the trueSky SDK is quite detailed and its features can easily match the atmospherics in MSFS. It's just a question of how much effort LM wants to put into implementing the full Simul SDK. I can't decide which is a bigger need for HiFI, fixing the weather in MSFS or prettying up the atmospherics in P3d5. REX has certainly put P3d5 work on the back burner, so it's hard to tell what's happening with either developer.

Think it's unlikely hifi are working on 2020, the SDK excludes weather at this point. Think your warmer with the p3d 5.1 idea, let's hope so anyway!

Except that REX threw down the gauntlet and said that they figured out how to inject weather into MSFS. But talk is cheap and actions are expensive.

I think some people are just addicted to buying add-ons. MSFS needs bug corrections, not weather add-ons. P3D needs both.

So MSFS has historic weather now?

And i think some flightsimmer are giving up profundity and high-fidelity simulation for looks and other flippancies.

Stock weather engine from MSFS is better than stock P3D but its far away from engines like HiFi or even REX.

Damian from HifiTech :

The developers (Asobo) have made it clear (based on things including several publicly posted developer chats on the SDK subject) that they don't want "extra-SDK" development for reasons of interoperability and compatibility concerns and have attempted to "button things down" to make things better for the user. Out of respect to Asobo and their apparently desired integration methods, we have so far refrained from such kind of "extra-SDK" integration. There are no SDK functions for weather at this time, the previous functions are disabled, and the docs indicate "to do" and "deprecated" statuses for weather category and previously-working functions respectively. We have made a tremendous effort at discovery of potential undocumented or unexpected weather control functionality using the available SDK, but we have not found any. In addition, there are issues/bugs with the existing functionality that prevents even basic weather representation, persistence, saving and loading with manual existing UI controls. There are simconnect issues preventing even basic proper flight/situation control. There are many other issues and concerns, but we feel these things will be addressed in time. When that time comes, we are ready and have already prepared a product for rapid integration and completion.

Until then, we are focusing on other new things for other platforms! We wish the other developers (who we don't consider competition) the best of luck and great success with their "own SDK" and their new "weather engine" for MSFS, whenever it releases.

Totally understand Damian post.. I am beyond frustrated with the current status of the MSFS SDK, and after many unsuccessful attempts to contact either ASOBO or Microsoft (Email, LinkedIn, Discord, you name it!!) to help them develop key parts of their SDK (the particle effect system is basically non existent, many required fundamental functions are non existent not only for weather but for many others key areas of the game) I keep getting totally ignored for months and months and months and still being ignored.. I just give up..

Then you read comments like Aerosoft is working with ASOBO to improve the SDK and I just feel at loss.. why not work with all 3rd party developers? I feel like either ASOBO / MS is not interested or only works with certain parties out of it's own interest / benefit.

Anyhow.. I will wait until one day ASOBO finish the SDK.. I did all I could for the last 8 months.. and to be honest I am quite tired of asking..

Well Simbol. See it like this: We have a great P3D V5 plattform and also a lot of customer whishes! So, why not fully concentrate on P3D? I would love to see a lot of MSFS "simmers" coming back to "home" 😉 and enjoy what already is working in P3D.

Of course P3D V5 has issues, even more of them. But if LM gets 5.1 out with a fully enhanced and implemented TrueSky EA (out of Beta) and some PBR issues fixed........flying in P3D V5 becomes more great as it already is.

I came back to P3D after I tried 20 Hours MSFS.......MSFS has great visuals.......but a lot of missing things wich I need to anjoy it the way I love to fly (VR, LongHaul airliners, FSLabs/PMDG Prof Addons, Saving and Loading complete flights INCL: Panelstates, good Performance, Nice GSX functions to immerse much more.....and...and...and.....a great SDK with TONS of entries to take advantage of.

As long as MSFS or 3.Parties within MSFS are not coming up with some prof. SDK and better Airliners......I will use MSFS from time to time to enjoy some visuals.....but that may be minute wise. P3D V5 is still my core and main sim for SIMULATING .

I love your Addon! And I am always stunned how this one improved the overall looks.

So I would love to see further improvings within P3D. I am still IN.

I am willing to sacrifice some fidelity when the rest of the package is just miles ahead of anything else. I am patiently waiting for VR and high-end add-ons and will keep using P3D eventually until that happens.
