With time i assume more will be released So what? That has nothing to do with the point being made, and which has been explained several times. The areas which have the water masks applied are fine and the water looks wonderful, but the effect shown in the marketing promo was not reproduceable at that location in the sim. It may be one day, but it would have been better to show an area that corresponded with the release version. John B

If it's not reproduceable, it isn't there, simple as that 🙂 The version they use is not the one we use. September 25, 20205 yr I suppose the best way to explain it would be that the trailer does not represent the current MSFS, but a future version of MSFS they hope to have one day.
September 25, 20205 yr Some of the water masks need to be done by hand again because updated satellite imagery broke them shortly before release. What is shown in the Around the World trailers is either before that update happened, or a future version with the fixed water masks. Since they will have to touch the scenery files with the Japan update, it might be worth checking those areas out after the patch is out.
September 25, 20205 yr Yeah, trailers aren't always made on the current release version of the program.
September 25, 20205 yr I don't usually fly GA, but when I do, it is almost always somewhere over water - island hopping typically. This is a pretty big issue considering that the scenery is the major draw for the sim right now. It really was those tropical shots I saw in the trailers that hooked me. They were noticeable absent when I flew in the Bahamas post patch. When people say they are manually fixing things - are the going to do the whole planet manually? I guess I don't understand what that entails, but it sure sounds like something we'll never see. Even in P3D, it took over 10 years to get a viable version of the Cancun airport - that's the second busiest airport.in Mexico, and the 4th busiest airport in Latin America, and they have a ton of flights from all over the world - mostly from the US, Canada and Europe. How long do you think it will take to get the water masking correct in that corner of the world? We'll see. Maybe not all of it, but i saw plenty of zones with low depth waters with sand bars visible too. I don't think they will cover the world this way sadly, i think they are just going to do them manually for such places. Even in Italy, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany for example, we have really beautiful beaches and it kind of sucks not being able to see them properly from the air. Small example of what i would like to see, Italy wise Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

I don't see any other way of doing it otherwise, they can't cover the world manually =/ Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

So the question is why Asabo/MS chose to downgrade the release version...
