October 1, 20205 yr Hello all, I run FSX SP2 with the acceleration pack. I just encountered this problem the other day and can't seem to fix it. It started when I installed KSGU addon scenery from avsim. It seems that is has messed up the default terrain height as it effected KABQ as well. With the default KABQ terrain covers runway and taxiways and with the Tropicalsim ABQ there is no runway or taxiway markings and the terminal sits lower than it should. Is there a known fix to this or do I need to reinstall FSX? https://imgur.com/a/EmetoQ1 KSGU3 by Dakota Lowry, on Flickr KSGU2 by Dakota Lowry, on Flickr DefaultKABQ2 by Dakota Lowry, on Flickr Edited October 1, 20205 yr by swafan10 Added images Dakota Lowry http://downloads.pre...anner_Pilot.jpg
October 1, 20205 yr What are your scenery sliders set at in the sim? Mesh resolution can have an effect. Don't re-install FSX just yet! Airports on plateaux or in holes usually indicate a terrain mesh issue. The more detailed the mesh, the more you see the compromises made for FSX stock airports and some freeware versions may not address these. You mentioned that you have an airport from Tropicalsim (payware?). What are their recommendations for the FSX scenery settings - that may resolve the issue. October 2, 20205 yr Add-on airport altitude set incorrectly for the terrain mesh is my guess. Are you using an add-on terrain mesh? My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
October 2, 20205 yr In addition to the terrain mesh issues mentioned above, for some simple troubleshooting you could just de-active KGSU in the FSS scenery library and see if KABQ is displayed correctly. This will narrow the issue down. Also whats the order of your two sceneries in comparison to any terrain mesh you have installed in the Scenery Library? October 3, 20205 yr The problem you’re having is usually caused by two issues. First issue could be terrain as mentioned by others. The other issue could be an airport elevation correction file missing. When someone creates a new airport replacing a default one and changes the airport elevation, there has to be a airport elevation correction file to override the default elevation. This file does not go with the rest of the scenery files, but instead goes in the “scenery - World” folder. I would first check the readme or instructions for the airport that you got from AVSIM and see if mentions anything about a elevation correction file and where you should put it. Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder. John C.
