Another little test version that some of you,

Two things maybe for the future:

1 Can sort the apps in the list

2 Can start them timshifted.

Thats because one of my apps starts only when another app is ready

But great work - again

yep ordering would be possible and easy (i can just and an 'up' and a 'down' button like i did for the addons folder).

then they would launch in that order, but the launch is done by windows, so technically both program will be started at almost the same time and the one that starts faster will be the first loaded and ready. So yeah to achieve what you want, the program would need to know when the first program is ready, i'm not sure how if that can be done because 'being ready' is different for each program and an external program like my tool can't really know. Another solution (like you hinted) would be to launch them with an interval of X seconds between launch (assuming that the delay would be sufficient for the previous program to be ready)

i need to think a bit about it 😎

I'm thourougly enjoying your app, great addition for managing my addons and saving me a lot of time an pain..

Could you explain the function "Check addons" to me or point me to the post where this was explained?
Do I understand correctly that some identical naming in addons can lead to a conflict in the sim?
I just recently hat CTD's due to scenery, can this function help to figure out the bad boy?

Thank you!

From where is the latest complete version of this wonderful app available?

Thx,

Al

thanks for the feedback guys

@Semmel : the check addon feature was made to detect addons that create potential conflicts with each other because they use the same file name in the same location. The sim will use only one of those identically named files even if the files are different so problems might occur. The original post in the official flightsimulator forum was the starting point that lead to the development of that feature. You will find the more info here where it is explained better --> https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/scenery-creators-please-move-or-rename-your-modellib-bgl/307563

@ark : the latest version is always available at flightsim.to ... it's a very nice site for managing addons (version's history, notifications when a new version comes out, ....), you can also download it from there without registering if you prefer.

Thank you. Can you just download and run the latest version, or do you have to delete/install anything from the previous version?

Thanks,

Al

Simply delete your current version files and extract the ones included in the ZIP to replace the ones you deleted, you should then be ready to go 😎

If you delete the current version files before updating, will previously defined Presets be preserved?

  • Author

yes everything will be preserved, the preset are saved elsewhere by default, nothing is saved in the folder where you have the EXE file (unless you set the preset folder to be there in the options screen but that would not be a good idea). You can see where your presets are saved by going in the options screen (menu : Tools -> Options), make sure you don't touch that folder and you will be fine.

Ok, I understand the purpose of this as mentioned in the FS forum but I don't understand the functionality within your tool. I run it and it will give me a list of green and red items. The red items are not crossed (I suppose it is exactly the addons I did not have activated before). If the rest is green, does it mean everything is good to go or am I missing something? I definitely have some conflict with my addons going on..

  • Author

the list shows the addons with potential conflicts, the one in red are the ones currently inactive and in green the ones currently active (by active i mean eanbled in the tool so there should be a link for them currently in the community manager).

so that options scans every referenced addon in you addons folder and try to pick up those with possible conflicts (no matter if you activated them or not). The green and red is just an indication to let you know wich ones are currently activated.

not sure it's a bit more clear now 🙃

Hi @Bad_T,

and thanks again for your continuing work. I just came here to post a suggestion but I see you may have already made the option available (by my running a batch file automatically).

I was going to ask/suggest about the "content.xml" file. I took a look at my copy recently and it was obviously a snapshot of a moment in time when I had a particular set of addons active via your linker. It certainly wasn't current though. I have never really understood how the concept of priority is handled in MSFS, but it just seemed to work ok for ne, until the recent USA update brought in some weird stuff to KATL as I already had the Imaginesim version.

Anyway, after a morning of experimentation I have got a set of pictures to examine to make precise comparisons for the different versions of KATL, so at least now I can decide which one I prefer. But as part of this I was checking the "content.xml" and seeing the changes there as I added and deleted sceneries. I'm not totally convinced it changes every time stuff is added (linked) or removed, so I was going to suggest that your linker automatically deleted that file when it (the linker) closes. But then I saw the new version available so I guess I could do that via batch if you don't think your linker doing it is a good idea - there may be reasons not to do this that I'm unaware of.

I'll also go and read that link to see if it helps me understand the scenery priorites any better. Presumaby the order listed in "content.xml" does actually make a difference then? Like in X-Plane?

And to think I used to complain about IBM manuals back in the day. At least they actually published stuff. Way way back they used to have a set of Logic Manuals for the OS. They were the actual programmers' flow charts documented right down to the register level. Magic! You could guarantee being able to find out precisely what was (supposed to) going to happen for any given set of circumstances. They stopped them producing them after 1980 unfortunately. The equation now seems to assume that the software will keep getting smarter while the users get dumber. Unfortunately, I don't think either of those things (and especially the first) is true.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
