November 10, 20205 yr Author hello, @Noooch & @cavaricooper I prefer not give you false hopes, auto-check and updates of mods will more than propably never happen with my little tool. That would be possible only if the site opens up its internal db to public access which they will never do (and rightfully so). As you said, the downloads are also protected otherwise you can be sure that some people would just grab everything with scripts every single day or create their own sites and link directly to the original files so that they don't have to pay themself for the hosting. It's just the world we're living in, if you open it up too much you can be sure someone will try to exploit it in a non 'fair way'. what i may do is something to help uninstall/install/update mods directly from the tool. But for the check of version and the download its a bit out of my hand. Btw, flighstim.to is really a great site, if you sign up you can follow the mods you like and you will be warned when new versions come out, it's very well done. Thanks again for your inputs and ideas 👍 Edited November 10, 20205 yr by Bad_T

November 11, 20205 yr I've run across an issue. I made a preset with no mods selected so I'd have an easy way to disable all mods, but when I switch to it it leaves all the last selecteed mods. All my other presets seem to work, just not the no mods one. James
November 11, 20205 yr Every two weeks I am reminded just how glad I got and installed this amazing little app. Patch causes some CTD's. Super easy to enable and disable individual adons. Not to mention the ability to actually sort your add on folders and place them in subdirectories of your choosing and yet have the community folder be "flat".

This will be fixed in the next version. But just for info, you don't need to create an empty preset to do that, the 'right-click' menu on the list of addons contains an option 'disable all addons' that will do just the same and disable everything with a simple click, that one will work fine. @wthomas33065 thanks for the feedback and glad you find it useful 👍 Edited November 11, 20205 yr by Bad_T
November 11, 20205 yr This is an excellent tool I use on a daily basis. Here’s a wish, a mechanism to detect duplicates. Sometimes there are more than one scenery available for the same location or airport and it is not simple to spot a duplicate in the community folder
November 12, 20205 yr @peroni I did have that issue when I first started with this tool. I noticed in the right hand column that the good one are shaded in green, a couple in grey, which are legacy files from portover planes and those that are highlighted in red. It is these red ones that are duplicates. It is just a matter of going through the folders to identify them and remove the ones where they shouldn't be. Trust that helps. November 12, 20205 yr Author hello, @sauviat if i understand correctly, i think @peroni does not have issues with some of the stuff he installed (like invalid links that would indeed show in red and that could be fixed easily as you said). I think he would like a new feature in the program that would be able to detect duplicates based on their content. When you have 400 addons installed you might not remember everythign you have already installed, and when you add a new one you might not remember that 2 months earlier you had already installed something that changed the same airport or part of the world. The program would make you aware of that. For example, 3 different creators create an airport addon for EGLL, if he installs all 3 what happens. He could have something like that somwhere in his 400 folders (fictitious example). - EGGL_v1 - London_pack_v12 - London aiports by Mike It would nice if the program would be able to identify that those 3 folders (addons) change the same airport and so thay would be considered as duplicate even if they are completely different addons made by different people. Unfortunately @peronii don't see how i could do this, this would require a deep analysis of the BGL included in those folders to determine if they change the same part of the FS world. Not even sure if it's possible, but what is sure is that for my limited knowledge it's out of reach because i would not know how to do such a thing 🙊 let me know if i misunderstood your request. November 12, 20205 yr Hi Bad_T, you're spot on! I wonder if inside the .bgl files you could find the coordinates of any given package and then either alert on packages with similar coordinates or even better show them on a map to easily identify possible conflicts. Not sure how difficult that is, as I said it is only a wish but the tool is already great as it is.
November 13, 20205 yr @Bad_T I have long since an issue with MSFS that MS has been communicating directly with me - it's not Addon Linker related:) I have to do a complete uninstall and reinstallation today. What shall I do with my Addons and how to save them in the format that we are using with your software? An early response would be most welcomed, thank you Martin Martin Parr Retired professional yacht skipper for vessels up to 46m System: Omen 40L GT13-0054na Gaming PC; Windows 11 Home 64-bit OS; Intel Core i9-10900K CPU @ 3.7GHz; RAM 32GB; Samsung S34J55x Monitor 3440x1440 @75 Hz Resolution; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Ti. November 13, 20205 yr Author hello @sauviat i don't think there's anything very specific to do. Before reinstalling just deactivate anything that is activated via the tool (right click 'disable all addons'). Then, when you reinstall you will have a brand new empty community folder. All the addons you are managing today with the tool are in a seperate folder, that one will not be impacted by the reinstall because it should be a separate folder that will not be touched by MS installer. Then, when everything is reinstalled, you will just have to change the 'community folder' setting in the options screen of the tool (if you have reinstalled in another folder). You will then be able to recreate your links and all should be fine. You maybe have some payware stuff that will need reinstalling too, those are probably not managed by my tool (not sure what you did with your payware or if you have any). I don't see anything that could cause problems or that would require some specific complicated actions. Let me know if you were thinking about something particular. November 13, 20205 yr I needed to get on and had uninstalled everything. I added a # in front of MS Addons just to be sure it would not be touched. I'm using the same location for the Community folder, which will make it easier once the reinstall is done. With all the updates since MSFS was launched in August, the reinstall is going to take well into this evening. I have the Premium Deluxe boxed version and never understood where it is installed. When I started the reinstall with the DVDs, it only took Disc #1 to start the process and never asked for the the other nine discs! Will come back when I have eventually set up MSFS etc. Thanks Martin Martin Parr Retired professional yacht skipper for vessels up to 46m System: Omen 40L GT13-0054na Gaming PC; Windows 11 Home 64-bit OS; Intel Core i9-10900K CPU @ 3.7GHz; RAM 32GB; Samsung S34J55x Monitor 3440x1440 @75 Hz Resolution; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Ti. November 13, 20205 yr Hi Bad_T I have 2 more propositions: 1 - Could you add a small enhancement: When a folder has some or all files selected in the current preset, colorize the node of this folder in green or xhatever color, in order to see immediately what folders are included in the preset. It is the same principle as for the doons, but now for the folders. This will be useful for the root levels and all intermediate levels, addons being already colored in rd/green. 2 - Another helpy feature would be to have a button to collapse/expand all folders related to the preset. Thanks. Patrice. Patrice Dubois
November 13, 20205 yr Author hello Patrice, thanks again for your input. I don't exaclty understand the color part for the preset, when you apply a prest all 'nodes' included will already turn green so what would be the advantage to have then also written in color. Or maybe i don't get exactly what you want. for the expand it would be an option that would expand every parent folder containing a node that is selected ? that would certainly be be possible but once again i'm not really sure we are on the same page about the preset functionality so my understanding might be wrong. Maybe you see it in a different way than i do. let me know, thank you.
