October 14, 20205 yr After the latest patch the lightning is still constant with live weather. Seriously Asobo ! Fix it !
October 14, 20205 yr Why are you still complaining about issues that were clearly communicated as not being part of the next patch? They published a very comprehensive issue list where one can see the status of each bug and improvement being worked upon and from that it was clear that it was not yet going to be fixed. So why still moan about it? Accept it and move on.

Because this thunder/lightening bug is highly serious, did not exist before the previous update, and needs immediate attention. Perhaps even a fix that is interim to the regular sequence of updates. Real weather hasn't worked in FSX for years due to the shutdown of the servers servicing them. Yet it is not game breaking. This issue isn't game breaking either. There are several workarounds to be found. It is NOT something that needs to stop the developer in their tracks. So perhaps you can dial down the hyperbole.

MS/Asobo is actively supporting MFS at this very moment. Huge difference from your example. October 14, 20205 yr Speaking of work-arounds, is there a way to turn off lightning entirely via one of the cfg files? I'd rather have no lightning than lightning everywhere (I make it a habit not to fly through thunderstorms).

And MS/Adobo have acknowledged the bug and have put it on their list. My point is, that there are many methods to TEMPORARILY work around the issue while it is getting fixed.

You can load a weather preset, or set the weather manually using the weather editor. There are freeware and payware weather enhancements available for the product giving you more preset weather options. I believe someone has even created an alternative to live weather that allows you to have a weather setting called METAR Real Weather, which allows you grab a METAR report, and then "reroll" it

I have flown with live weather for many years. This simulation touted it's live weather in months of pre-release promotion. I have had some success with representative live weather with this sim, with the exceptions being winds aloft accuracy and a mismatch between the weather in the flying environment and ATIS/AWOS recordings. This thunderstorm issue began with the previous release and has rendered live weather unusable for the time being. I have been flying the past few days with presets. All VFR excursions/sightseeing. That is not how I fly my serious flights. That is not my hobby. Sporting events schedules in real time with live weather. So I am logging those flights in FSX SE with Active Sky 16. I was flying some of those in MFS, and taking time to mirror some FSX SE flights in MFS to compare. All of that is over until this gets fixed. Perhaps read my message footer....
