I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out why people care about these things. You can have a female avatar as a male gamer, you know....That said, I'm pleased that Asobo has given us a more diverse range of in-game avatars.

I find it quite insulting that the pilot types are so racially stereotyped, but that only one of the European stereotypes are also included. I'm talking Scandinavian, Germanic, Latin, etc. These are far more representative of pilots worldwide than, say "Egyptian"!

Wait... as we saw with the A32NX coffee cups, once the modding community figure this out, we will have a selection of new avatars... from Marge Simpson to porn stars.... modelled in all their in 8K glory. The VR flyers will love it! 🤣

Real life, my business and my lady, have kept me a bit too busy to explore modifying these.  Given my extreme lack of 3d modeling experience no doubt it would be quite the time sink.  Hopefully someone publishes a guide.  Probably would be the closest my wife and I will ever get to owning any aircraft and poking holes in the sky together.  But hey coming from the 'poking holes in the ocean' bunch taught me there are a myriad of things to poke holes in and the sky is perhaps the 2nd most expensive.

LOL I hear you.  If we are to be publicly branded 'oppressors' the very least we should demand is 'equal' representation in avatars!  The lack of diversity here is rather appalling all things considered. *tongue planted firmly in cheek* (not saying who's cheek...some things are private)

 

Speaking of apparence, MS seems indeed more serious about showing to the world its wokeness credentials than about giving us a good mesh and a sea which doesn’t look as a mirror. 

No old white male with wrinkles and white hair, I feel discriminated 😼 !

Thought I saw somewhere a link to an app that lets you put your own face on the Pilot and Co, perhaps on the FlightSimTo site.

As a white middle class gent of advancing years I find it mysteriously and vaguely exciting to have a young female avatar. A strange feeling, one I can't quite put my finger on.😉
