October 29, 20205 yr This is a V5.1 "Happy Thread"! Why? Well, I'm usually a positive person, but members of this forum will remember that ONLY V5 used to cause me to have gradual deteriorating performance. I try to be helpful and generally optimistic in all my threads (you can check), but V5 caused me great aggravation because as my flights got to around 100+ miles, I would see stuttering, and texture erasures on planes, and lots of other abnormalities. I tried everything...but to no avail. Most times I had to Ctrl/Alt/Del to get out of the sim. I complained about it quite a bit. I even spoke with Jetline Technical Service (my computer build company), and they ALSO admitted that it wasn't just me....many simmers were complaining about V5. V4.5 worked great, MSFS worked great, and everything else worked great on my system. But NOT V5 - even with both hotfixes. Now...last night I deleted everything associated with V5 and did a totally clean install of V5.1. I stayed up rather late, and installed many of my sceneries, checked ORBX, installed various aircraft that I had saved, and restarted my computer several times as I re-installed many of my addons. This morning I took V5.1 for a spin. I flew over 500 miles and utilized 2 different aircraft. I had ZERO degradations, smooth flying through all views, and just beautiful, enjoyable flying. For me, I see much better performance, high frame rates, and superb smoothness. Granted, it's early with the update, but I'm in such a good mood, I thought I'd counter some of the negative posts I've been reading, and start a "Happy Thread"! October 29, 20205 yr Did you uninstall all your sceneries and reinstall them or just the sim iteself? AMD Ryzen™ 9 9900X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 12 Core, 24 Threads, 4.4GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance 32GB GeForce® RTX 5090 Graphics Card
October 29, 20205 yr I too am really pleased with the 5.1 up-date. I was quite surprised by some of the negative comments of others. Best.... Phil
October 29, 20205 yr Although ActiveSky doesn't work, which pretty much makes it unusable. AMD Ryzen™ 9 9900X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 12 Core, 24 Threads, 4.4GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance 32GB GeForce® RTX 5090 Graphics Card

Active Sky P3D is not working in v5.1 and it looks like it will never work: "The P3D 5.1 release version has an issue preventing proper EA mode weather control via SimConnect with ASP3D (or any other weather add-on). We have forwarded our findings to P3D developers and we hope that it will be resolved soon with a new P3D update." I assume v5.1 HF1 will be released to address this. ORBX of course stayed intact with the library on a separate drive. Most of my sceneries that were on P3DV5 Addons worked well. I did install all my LatinVFR and FlyTampa sceneries. That's usually quite easy. Going to install all my Carenado planes today, and a few more sceneries from Drzewiecki Design. I enjoy his Polish airports, Chicago airports, Washington airports, etc. Stan ps. Sorry about Font change. Happened with a cut and paste. Edited October 29, 20205 yr by spilok
