November 1, 20205 yr I'm new to this sim and can't get waves working in oceans ect. My water is glassy in most areas, no breaking waves at all. Thanks

Thanks Add a 20 knot surface wind layer and you should see waves. I agree though, I think large bodies of water should have some wave action by default.

November 1, 20205 yr Yes, I noticed it in the last patch, I thought it was some mod messing up the sea but nope, just normal bugsobo witchcraft. R5 3600 - GTX 1070OC - 32GB 3200 - NVME - 3440x1440 160Hz - VR(Quest 2) GarbagePoster™

Waves, foam, surface movement working fine here with both live weather and presets. The calm-water visuals are much improved as well. What are your water / graphics settings set at? November 1, 20205 yr We need to have too high and gusty winds for reasonable water waves. I wish they start with some wave mtion even at 0 kt winds. To see waves, we needd to have such high force winds that we cannot fly. Edited November 1, 20205 yr by Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
November 1, 20205 yr Author That's what I thought, FSX had better default waves. I hope this gets addressed soon.
November 1, 20205 yr Like others I would like to see more wave response to much lower wind speeds, and maybe a separate wave slider, as ocean waves are not only dependant on local wind speeds, but are affected by what is happening hundreds of miles away.

November 1, 20205 yr The idea that wind is the sole factor for waves in large bodies water in nonsense https://scijinks.gov/tides/#:~:text=When the earth%2C Moon%2C and, small tides%2C called neap tides. High and low tides are caused by the Moon. The Moon's gravitational pull generates something called the tidal force. The tidal force causes Earth—and its water—to bulge out on the side closest to the Moon and the side farthest from the Moon. These bulges of water are high tides. November 2, 20205 yr Author I couldn't agree more with the last post. Microsoft needs to get this glassy sea looking like it should.
November 2, 20205 yr So it's a preset weather condition: Clear Skies Few Clouds etc... Moon Waves I'm in, I dare them to make a Moon Waves preset 🙂 BTW, would be a great April Fools day joke from them 🙂 "Coffee, if your not shaking, you need another cup" Flight Sim Break Discord Channel: https://discord.com/invite/fCV62Ka2QZ
