Autopilot issues Cessna 172 skyhawk

Featured Replies

Hi ,

I am having some issues with the AP . Forinstance selecting and hitting the ALT  - the altitude jumbs to a random high value (like from actually 1200 feet to 10362 feet) I was under the impression it would hold the actually altitude doing so ?.

Also when a selected ALT value is selected and using V/S it overshoots the Altitude selected.

Thanks Michael Moe

Pressing ALT should hold your actual altitude, if not it's a new bug.

I did this in my flight yesterday and alt maintains the current altitude.  No mods here.

Have you changed the metric/imperial options..  if so change them back 🙂

System specs...   CPU AMD5950,  GPU AMD6900XT,  ROG crosshair VIII Hero motherboard, Corsair 64 gig LPX 3600 mem, Air cooling on GPU,   Kraken x pump cooling on CPU.  Samsung G7 curved 27" monitor at 2k resolution ULTRA default settings.

You can solve it maintaining the ALT pressing again ALT and in "PIT" and then press up and down, it is very stable so.

Prior to the last update I got the C172 pretty stable on a/p. Now it permanently oscillates in roll, even with ridiculously extreme roll stability values. I'm afraid this is another example of Asobo tweaks that worsen things rather than improve them.

While Asobo should definitely fix the AP isuues I wonder why you not just enjoy flying small plane like C172 manually?

First you dial in an altitude, then you hit VS and set a vertical speed using the up and down buttons.  When you get to the target altitude, it should switch to alt mode automatically and hold that altitude.
