Fall Season - Released

Recommended Posts

I am personally very excited about this. I was tired of seeing the same green all over the world so I looked into it and found a way to adjust the tree colors.

It's not perfect and there is no way I can keep everyone happy. Some like colors dull and some vivid. Some want more colors and some want less but I may be able to customize fall colors in your city. You can provide pictures and I will match it as best as possible. Message for more details about this.

This has no impact on performance or FPS. It's just one xml file. No textures or bitmap files to replace.

File is available to download at https://www.nexusmods.com/microsoftflightsimulator/mods/496/.  It's free to downlaod but donations are welcome. Next is winter and spring colors. 🙂

I would love to see your screenshots or videos with the new fall colors.

Just a note, there are few parts in Eastern USA where it doesn't get any fall colors. I will update this if I find a solution.

Enjoy it. 🙂

Nice development. Did you consider the weather effects in areas close to the Equator, or in tropical areas, where the trees and weather in general does not change too much during the year?.

Thanks for your efforts.

Cheers, Ed

[EDIT: I can't find the location suggested in the instructions. Maybe the instructions provided are for Windows Store installations?. I'm on Steam]

yes, that's the windows store location. It's one level above the Community DIR in Packages: Packages\Official\OneStore\fs-base\vegetation

Just did some quick tests and I like it! Thank you for your efforts and contribution to the community. If I had to put myself into a classification, I'd fall under the more vivid and more colors group! When I get some time I will gladly post some screenshots.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

Could you pls tell where is the proper location to place or replace the file for Steam users?. Not clear to me.

Thanks, Ed

Unfortunately I don't have steam version so I'm not sure but i am sure someone here can help you exactly where to place it. Maybe search for vegetation folder inside OneStore folder and it should come up. Inside vegetation folder there are 4 files. Just replace one of them. Make a backup copy of it first.

The way it's programmed is by region and not by states.

Ed just go to main simulator folder then do a search for vegetation - there you go - replace file in that folder with new xml file - backup your original 🙂

Heres location for steam

C:\Users\Rich Sennett\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\fs-base\vegetation

Hi Rich:

I think I've found it. Looks like not all Steam installations are the same, depending if you installed custom or default.

Mine is on: D:\MSFS\Official\Steam\fs-base\vegetation (It's maybe because I have a custom install). Inside there are 4 files of the same type (.xml - type).

Thanks anyway for the tip, buddy.

Cheers, Ed

As far as they are not in the same drive as the OS, I'm good.
