Landclass for ASIA

Recommended Posts

Hi,

After a flightsim pause I read that Orbx has paused/abandoned Open LC Asia.

I'm really sad especially that I have now completed my collection of asian airports (Singapore, Tokyo, Hong-Kong, Taiwan...).

Are you aware of a project of landclass for Asia by another developer?

If there is one, the challenge would be to make it compatible with Orbx Base + Vector...

There is a freeware landclass add-on for Japan, and it's pretty good, although it doesn't bring it's own textures.

Yes, the Japan Landclass by Mr. Haruo (still beta 🙂 is indeed good. You can combine it with ORBX Base and Vector. Unfortunately, its colors don't fit well to most Photo-based City sceneries.

For Russia there is the 6 parts Digital Russia available from Simmarket. I have three parts and it's well done as well.

There is also a "Real China" available from Simmarket, obviously LC-based as well, but I can't comment on its quality.

Kind regards, Michael

Can I just add that Scenerytech Landclass Asia does work in 64 bit P3D.

I have Asia and Indo-Pacific installed (as the rest of the world is covered by Orbx).

You need to “trick” the installer that you have FSX installed (via a temporary Registry edit) but it is more than satisfactory... don’t select the two options during the install (lookup and ice caps).

Even though it is about 11 years old, it really is a very noticeable improvement and creates zero issues.

I will of course uninstall immediately that a Orbx Asia LC is produced!

Yes, I have that as a base add-on LC layer, above the P3D LC, and below all other LCs (OpenLCs, Haruo-sans LC).

The news about the upcoming news about the (hopefully) upcoming OpenLC Asia is great!

Real china is not Orbx but it does make a great improvement.

Where ORBX isnt present on my disc I use https://www.scenerytech.com/products/landclass/ landclasses (released long ago). It works very well in P3Dv4, 5 also and looks good, I advice it.

Really good news from ORBX regarding openLC Asia.  I think it's a smart move on their part to either go ahead and do it.  Maybe we'll get lucky and they've already made it.

This will be a money-maker because I've no doubt that there are thousands of folks like me who think that MSFS isn't even close to being ready and thus will stick with P3D for quite some time.

Excellent. Many thanks for the info. Can you please share the link to the thread on Orbx forum.

If a news regarding openLC Asia is to be delivered by Orbx, it can be only a positive one since the last time they announced that they abandon/pause the project.

I cross my fingers.
