Landclass for ASIA

Where ORBX isnt present on my disc I use https://www.scenerytech.com/products/landclass/ landclasses (released long ago). It works very well in P3Dv4, 5 also and looks good, I advice it.

Is the support still active for this.  No updates since 2007.  Seriously that is from 13 years ago,  Maybe Flight1 is just collecting the money here.  I won't advise it as it is FSX and P3Dv5 has way too many changes

Yes, I have that as a base add-on LC layer, above the P3D LC, and below all other LCs (OpenLCs, Haruo-sans LC).

Just realized I meant Renk's “My World“ Landclass (although I have Scenery Tech's LC as well)

Excellent. Many thanks for the info. Can you please share the link to the thread on Orbx forum.

If a news regarding openLC Asia is to be delivered by Orbx, it can be only a positive one since the last time they announced that they abandon/pause the project.

I cross my fingers.

This is the link but it's a long going subject

We have some news coming next week about openLC Asia 🙂

This was the announcement from ED earlier today:------

"Just to set expectations, we plan to announce the roadmap specifically to openLC Asia. There won’t be previews etc. but our plan on it’s rollout over the next 12 months."

Oof... That does not bode well, frankly. Don't get me wrong - something is better than nothing, but this sounds a lot like we should expect many more delays and perhaps a phased rollout depending on which regions they were able to acquire good data for. Happy to be proven wrong, of course.

I am assuming they are going with another thirdparty devs to make it - no idea regardless it will be under the Orbx banner and that is one product I will buy on Day 1.  Yay, Orbx!!!!

Orbx Global will be truly Global.  I am just waiting on some Orbx Africa Airports!!!

** DEVIL'S ADVOCATE MODE ON **

They are just waiting for Microsoft Flight Simulator to crash and burn over the next six months, and then they will settle down to concentrate on development of Open LC Asia for P3D

The ORBX guy said "rollout over the next 12 months".  My guess is that they will divide this area into 2-4 packages and release one every 3-6 months.

I hope that I'm right as I really don't want to wait another year, at least, for them to make a single package for the entire area.

I don't want to wait 12 months for the whole area either. I would be fine if they released smaller packages in smaller time intervals.

If ORBX had stayed faithful to their roadmap announced in 2014 with the first release of OpenLC Europe, today we would have OpenLC Mars covering the whole planet. 😁

jaytee73 : many thanks for updating us.

I did not quite understand if the roadmap will be presented this year or later?

The roadmap will probably answer to the question "one delivery for the whole Asia or several small deliveries ?".

In case of several deliveries, it hope it will be no more than 2-3.

I can remember that in the past, there was first openLC USA, then Alaska/Canada, and later one and only product for North America.

I prefer everything or nothing.

The risk with smaller packages is that after 1 or 2 they stop. I don't want to have 50% of Asia.

Interesting news. Nice to see the community had a positive influence on Orbx' roadmap and listened to the market needs.

Also positive is that Region #1 would go into testing next month. 👍

Super great news, thanks.

I'm most interested in their zone 3 and I will certainly buy 1 and 2 zones at "at early-bird prices" to support Orbx if they firmly commit to deliver zone 3 later.

Guys, if openLC Asia is important to you, let Orbx know your feedback : https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/202172-development-update-on-openlc-asia/
