November 24, 20205 yr Hi, Rob posted a video about these parameters - manually increasing the value in order to get rid of the slow loading black textures when panning around. It worked like a charm in v4, now in v5 I assume we should avoid playing with these as it increases VRAM usage which will result in a CTD? Any recommendations from your experience? November 24, 20205 yr I actually went to default due to save VRAM. I am still tweaking with things but for the most part. VRAM usage is heavier with EA. My original tweaks disabled EA, and that still works fine with Max_Texture_Request_Distance and Texture_Size_Exp. I believe you can still increase Max_Texture_Request_Distance a bit more than 1000 and not impact your VRAM that much vs Texture_Size_EXP. But the graphics in 5.1HF1 are just amazing. It is so crisp and clean. And EA eliminates my need to have EnvTex/EnvShade (yay..one less addon to install) With EA - right now I have to use 1024 textures (though VC is always 4096 which is great) - especially on airports like LatinVFR KMIA (PBR and NonPBR). Honestly one needs 16GB+ Video card to really enjoy some of these tweaks now. Sigh 3090 I have to plane to get it (now is not the best time to spend that much $$$ on a card....) SCENERY_DRAW_DISTANCE=64000.000000 In the Graphics setting edited to. MAX_TEXTURE_REQUEST_DISTANCE=32000.000000 Half the Scenery draw distance no black scenery when panning, more load on the GPU. Joe Thanks, I was trying with that number but started CTD'ing like crazy, still can't determine if that is causing the crashes as I've also installed Active Sky RC3 today.
