CARENADO ctd

Featured Replies

any work arounds after the last up date to fix this new problem

My understanding is that Carenado sent an update to Microsoft for the Mooney, but it has not yet made it to the marketplace.

PA44 .

ctd right at the beginning too. Just open the pilot's window ventilation via mouse.

Yes Hyper, you are right.  Unfortunately, things have moved on since then.  There are now CTD's when touching things like the windows and sun visor etc. which were not accounted for in the last update Carenado sent to Asobo, so there will be little to gain from them uploading that version now.  These additional things got broken during the lastest Asobo update last week.

Hopefully, they are now working on an even newer version, unless of course they are waiting for Asobo to reverse the latest changes.

Who knows?  The whole thing is painfully slow and there is not much communication other than Asobo acknowledging they were getting emails from the developers saying 'Hey! You broke our planes again!' in the last Twitch video.

I am just totally exasperated by the whole situation.

I am reluctant to touch stuff that doesn't concern me anyway - I have been told it will break my restraining order...  again! 😐

If this was a result of a nameless but historically premier developer’s product the village would have its pitchforks and lanterns out, demanding action.

In this case there seems to be much more unfathomable understanding. The situation is indefensible and needs to be corrected with hot fixes from Asobo and Carenado immediately. My Mooney (3 months old) has been grounded for weeks now. Just imagine the community’s angst if this were a 738?

I like that Carenado has come out with 3 great planes for the new FS2020.

FS2020 is less than 6 months old so I am willing to let a few teething problems slide both for ASOBO/MS and Carenado. I am sure this will all be working in time.

I don't think anyone is being slow on purpose. It is very complex to program, I am not at all surprised that we are seeing these flaws.  I have done a bit of app development and worked as a beta tester for a couple companies in video editing. We ran into really strange problems that were very hard to fix and often one fix led to other problems. One big problem is that everyone is pushing so hard in so many directions.

Just bear in mind this is a game, and we do this for fun. Our livelihoods don't depend on this.

I like seeing new stuff all the time and figuring out what works and what does not. I remember many problems just like this in X-plane with FF A320 for example, and everyone was incredibly word not allowed of, well the ones on the boards anyway.

I fly the 182, M20 and the PA-44, I just use the parts that work, and it is really fun. I a month or 2 this will just be distant memories. But other problems will pop up for sure, it is the nature of new products.

Anyway use what works and post about what does not, just be civilized about it. Insulting developers don't speed up their efforts, in fact it may slow things down if they get depressed. Be nice and sensitive they are people just like us.

Sim on a and be safe...

@177B - apologies, I'd address you by name if I could.

I believe I was being civilized.  I also believe, that if we accept sub par performance it will become the norm (as it has in many arenas already). Asking for something I paid for, to work as advertised should not be construed as insulting, by anyone.

I have witnessed first hand, the enormous amounts of development work done and undone, and therefore feel more acutely about this than you do. I do however, accept patience is a virtue, and will attempt to practice it as well as you prescribe.

Sim on and be safe as well.

In time, referring to what I mentioned at the beginning of this post. When I buy an add for any type of simulator (I have used several since 1982), I love to check every detail before the main use; it would be like unwrapping a long-awaited gift. This is why, when entering the cockpit, before starting any procedure, I decided to open the external ventilation since I live in a tropical country. In the sequence as I informed, there was the ctd and I could not do anything else. My bad luck, I think. I can only see the aircraft in the "ready for flight" menu. It was not a criticism, it was just a disappointment. I was looking forward to the launch of some Carenado product that suited me, but I will wait patiently. I understand that the corrections will be made, Asobo and Carenado. As I also give reason and wait for the products that come from A2A, PMDG and others. Currently very satisfied with the MFS2020, it is another world to simulate mainly in VFR. Sorry for a translation error. Health and good flights.

Now the have to make a patch for the patch and when it is finished a new update will break it again.

Not really happy that it is not working since I have paid for the Mooney!

I just bought the PA 44 it loads but as others have reported CTD if you move the sun visor or rotate some knobs.  I have applied for a refund through Microsoft.

Do any of the other Carenado aircraft work at the moment?

I like the old steam gages which is why I chose the PA 44 and not the Cessna 182

I use the 182, M20 and PA-44 a lot w/o any problems.

I just avoid clicking on the visor etc. Then they works great. And the PA-44 is my favorite so far, really nice handling. The AP is great and it is absolutely fantastic graphically inside and out. Stunning in fact.

And I am sure there will be a fix to the click spot problems soon.

My Mooney was grounded since latest patch before it was sold and replaced by my OnAir company a couple of days ago. 😕

I get CTD just by touching the ALT the knob, so it is completely useless for me.

Hi

Thanks for the reply

Microsoft have replied saying a refund is not an option

@ 177b what are the spots I must not use?

So far I have received a CTD when I tried to use the sun visor, pilots window, and one of the navigation/ communication panel instruments.  I am not too bothered re Microsoft not allowing a refund, However I am not that keen on finding the spots that cause the CTD be trial and error.

I also feel a fix will eventually be released but it is disappointing that they continue to sell the product with a known issue and not inform potential customers of the issue so we could make a informed choice as to purchase or not.

Best wishes

Bob
