Massive Fps drop since Update

Featured Replies

Hey,

I am having some issue since last update,

Before that everything was fine, my settings are on High/ultra and I could have a solid 30fps almost everywhere

Now after update I can barely reach 15fps on landing at LKPR with clear sky (where I could easily reach 40fps with clouds)

I am not a FPS hunter but at this point the sim is not fluid at all which make it very difficult to fly

I don't have a lot of add-on, only Workingtitle G1000 and 3000, FBW a32x, the DA62 mods and the "improved physics mod" and also few liveries, all of those mods are not activated at the same time as I use MFS add-on manager

Nvidia driver and all other are up to date, I did not change anything else

My config :

Ryzen 1700x (waiting for R5 5600x even if everything was working with this one)

RTX 3070

32GB ram

I am using MSI RTSS also for frame rate x/2

Any clue ?

PS: that happen with every plane

Thanks

What version of Windows are you on? 1903/1909 or newer?

In some cases 1903 or 1909 will introduce heavy stutter / frame drop if the sim is in foreground. If you choose another application you'll see the sim running great in the background. Updating windows fixed this for me.

AMD Ryzen R9 9950X3D | Asus Astral RTX 5080 OC | 32 GB DDR5 6000 CL30 | 3440x1440 G-Sync | Logitech Pro Throttles Rudder Yoke Panels | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS | TrackIR 5 | Oculus Rift S

I was using MSI RTSS For the first time, frame rate limited to 30fps, descending into a grass strip my frame rate suddenly dropped to 15fps I increased the RTSS frame rate to 100 and my frames immediately recovered to around 50fps, which strangely is about 10 more than I normally get

This effect was repeatable

Try turning off Motion Blur.  This feature is really useless at this point and affects performance.

Yep 😕

I'll try to mess around with rtss

But I think I May have found the guilty one, either the improved physic mod or the tiny ribbon thing mod for which you have to replace a file in fs global

Just tried a take off with those mod deleted and fps where back, need to see with a longer fly 🙂

Ah yes, mods became the reason the headline for all to see was, "Massive Fps drop since Update".

Just stating a fact that supports the contention 'mods', all else being equal, add to the problems reported for MSFS users.

This has been suggested by others end there seems to be a correlation between poor FPS/stuttering and tree drawing (and may be other scenery elements),  altitude and speed.

A low altitude pass over a treed urban area with the external camera grinds into a low FPS stuttering mess as you increase your speed.

Mods have been a part of the flight simulator ecosystem for all simulators for decades, and you don't need to clutter up every thread with your made-up "facts".

Well let's see that's two nasty attack replies now so into the ignore list you go, thank you moderators for this recommendation it really does work well.  This flight simulator ecosystem is the only one porting to a console a big way which makes it substantially different than the rest of the FS ecosystems you're referring to.  What I said was the prior post's comment, "Just tried a take off with those mod deleted and fps where back, need to see with a longer fly..." supports the notion all else being equal 'mods' will likely increase the potential for 'issues', that's all.
