New active Sky

Featured Replies

I bought the new Active Sky to work with 5.1.  Upon install it is asking for my previous license key.  Though I had previous versions, I deleted all of my v4 stuff of my pc to order 5.1.  What is the best way to get the license key in order to complete the install?

I must not have gotten it from Just Flight.  It wasn't in there for me.  Do you know where else they sold it?

Thanks.  I opened a ticket and was sent a key that didn't work. It said it was invalid.  Case XHE-334-73602

I'll take a look soon at that ticket if support department doesn't already handle, but this very common issue is essentially always because you're entering the wrong key at registration (you need to be entering your ASP3D key there).  The ASP4 key goes in after when it asks for your eligible product license.

Thanks.  I appreciate it.  Here is what was sent to me today to enter:

I got it to work.  However, after a successful install, and confirming I wanted to add it to the sim when I launched, I don't see Active Sky listed like I am used to in previous versions.  Is this new or should it be in there?  Should I pick custom weather instead?

You don't need to do anything in P3D. Start ASP3D first, and select Live or Historical weather. After it is up and running, start P3D.

From that point on, ASP3D controls your weather regardless of what it says in the weather box in P3D.

I didn't know that.  I always picked the Active Sky weather theme... Regardless, that is there now.

Am I missing something, this is the email I received from support.

This is an ASP4 key not an ASP3D key.

You are attempting to use a license key for ASP4 to activate ASP3D.

ASP3D is a newer separate product and requires purchasing a separate license from one of our official distributors in order to use it.

are you saying that an ASP4 works for ASP3D to use in P3D v5 ?

I think what you have stumbled into, is the fact that when ASP3D first came out there was a time period when you ASP4 key was usable with ASP3D. That is no longer in operation. ASP4 key is no longer accepted if you are a new user of ASP3D. (I'm pretty sure this is the case)

You are correct of course, after reading on their forums. It was only valid during the Open beta which ended on Oct 31st

FSPilotShop has apparently closed and we are no longer selling through them, but we will continue as always to provide licensing, order support and product downloads for our customers who purchased our products through them via our support desk.

I misunderstood this quote to mean that they would always provide new licensing to fspilotshop purchases.

Thanks for your info, off to buy a new license.
