Virtualcol Beech 99 to be released soon

Virtualcol specialise in  'cheap and cheerful' 'jump in and go' aeroplanes, and make the odd bit of scenery too. If you are looking for super-duper systems realism then you'll be disappointed, however, if you want something which is fun, cheap and comes with a ton of liveries and variants, then their stuff is exactly that.

Chock nailed it here.   I've bought some Virtualcol stuff before and have been fine with it, because I knew exactly what I was getting into.   They're open about what they do, they give the consumer enough images and information to understand what they're getting, and their stuff usually works flawlessly (for everything it implements) and gives you at least your money's worth.  They develop for a specific niche and fit it admirably.

I am a bit concerned about how well they'll do in MSFS given the greater quality gap between their models and textures and the "default" than there is in FSX/P3D but I think there's still a market for what they do.  I probably won't pick this particular one up because it doesn't do much for me, but I'd totally consider it if it were a model I were more interested in.

What are those black and white rectangular boxes on the right and where are the EFIS screens to navigate with?

Just kidding. King Air is my favorite MSFS plane, this will be #2, and a Beech 18 would be number #1.

Judging by the cockpit pictures the plane looks like it doesn't have near the detail of a Carenado plane.  Looks like it belongs in FSX.  I'm gonna buy it though I think it's only $16.

I don't know quite where you get that from. Looks great to me.

Will it have Anti ICE systems? Would be great !

Well the real thing does have de-icing boots, but whether they will function on this thing remains to be seen. Looks pretty good for the price, especially since it is discounted 40 percent for previous owners.

Would be great because I don’t like the G1000 instruments so the only plane I fly now is the Carenado Mooney but in this time of the year it is almost impossible to stay out of the icing zones. Fingers crossed!

Personally, I have a lot of time for Virtualcol, they offer good support for their products and they make no bones about being at the cheap and fun end of the market, which is why I have bought literally every add-on they have ever made, and they are the only developer I have ever done that with.

Hi Chock! Good to see you here! Didn't we have this discussion on another forum? 😁

I have the ATR-42 and the Saab 340 propliners that Virtualcol produced for P3D and they look good and fly well. There's not a ton of documentation on how to operate them (start / shutdown the engines, etc.) and there's little system depth but they are inexpensive and usually have decent models and fly pretty well. Can't go too far wrong with the prices

I have their Beech 99 in FSX, and it's my favorite for flying around the Bahamas.  It has a nice model and I especially liked the cockpit display but did have to make some modifications to make it suit me.  Changed some gauges and modified the .air file to get the prop controls to work properly.  Virtualcol didn't provide any support.

Maybe not the most detailed ac ever released but I personally like the looks of it and it will be my first purchased ac for msfs. 2nd will probably be the crj whenever that is released.

I made a promise to myself with the release of MSFS that any subpar add-ons visually will not see the light of day in this amazing version of Flight Simulator.  If it's not better than the default in every way I'll pass.  Actually that's always been my standard, you have to be at least better than default.  Sup par add-ons died for me as we are in a different stage of development now.  People don't have to release sub par work anymore, with a smaller effort that what was required for FS9/FSX they can get amazing results.  Just like scenery developers freeware and payware have stepped up their game, same goes for aircraft developers.  This is already an odd choice of aircraft for me but to look like an early FSX model on top of that, no thank you..

It’s now the 17th I take it that the release was delayed?

I’d like to at least look at some detailed pictures and reviews if I can find where it’s sold.

As I understood them, they „expect the release over the 16th, meaning it comes sixteenish, meaning perhaps a bit later, some days...?

I am allready chewing fingernails...
