Since I haven't found anything (for me) my 2060 Super won't do, I think I'll pass.

That was a bit rude, but yes, due to a recent house sale I have a bit of spare dosh. Thanks for your input.

Videos were uploaded on Youtube showcasing this card processing MFS2020. It`s all too rich for me!

Yep, a lot of dosh for sure. One of those rare occasions when I can manage it. Seems to be quite a few on Avsim opting for the 3090 though, and waiting for EVGA in particular. Don't blame them, I've never been let down by EVGA. Hopefully they will drop in price when the crazy stuff is over.

@martin-w, congrats on being able to buy a quality card from a reputable company. What card did you have before? I’m wondering if my board has suitable power connectors for a 3090. Currently have a 1080Ti. Space should be okay.

Have an older EVGA  GTX 980 Ti Ray.

This card will be for a new build. PC I have now my daughter will make use of for when she works from home.

PSU's seem to be in short supply but I managed to pick up an EVGA 1000 watt. I dont usually go that hefty for PSU's but with Nvidia recomending a minimum of 750 watts for the 3090, and the FTW3 being quite electron greedy, and with an OC BIOS available that takes it to 450 watts, decided it was prudent.

@martin-w, thanks for that. I’ll need to check with Chillblast whether any extra connectors are needed. I’m not deadly serious about getting it, just a casual enquiry to check if you were replacing an existing card.

I think my PSU is 850W so is okay. I usually follow Pete Dowson but as he has a Titan it’s unlikely he’ll be changing.

No extra motherboard connectors. Its just the PCIe slot and then two 8 pin PCIe cables from the PSU. PSU is the critical thing.

It most definately would fit in my existing PC. PSU wattage is at the low end though.

@martin-w, my 1080Ti requires 1x6 pin and 1x 8 pin. Would the 3090 come with the required connectors?

I have a Corsair RM850x 80 PLUS Gold 850W PSU. Powerful enough. Just need to clarify the situation with connectors.

I have a Corsair RM850x in my portable sim rig (i9-9900K + EVGA 1080Ti FTW3).  The aux power connectors on my other (all EVGA) GPUs -- a 2080Ti (gaming rig) and a 3090 (flight sim rig) are all the same as on the 1080Ti -- dual 8-pin VGA cables.  The RM850x has two independent modular VGA power sockets and separate VGA power cables, each of which have two connectors daisy-chained on the end (presumably for multiple-GPU SLI rigs).  You want to use one cable for each connector rather than putting both on the daisy-chained cable end together, though it might make the wiring a little cleaner.  Daisy-chaining can cause problems with excessive voltage drop under load, as the conductors aren't especially heavy-duty.

That said, I am using a 1000W EVGA PSU with the 3090 and an overclocked i9-10900K.

Correction: The EVGA FTW3 3090 actually has THREE 8 pin PCIe connectors.

The 3090 does not come with the cables. The cables required are with your PSU. Although the Founders Edition does come with an adapter cable.

EVGA recomend a minimum of 750 watts. Someone did post recently, suggesting that some were having issues on the EVGA forum with 850 watts. But to be honest, I suspect that was related to the POSCAP issue.

I'm running a 10900k as well, which is quite power hungry when overclocked on all cores, so opted for the 1000 watt.

I would agree regarding the PCIe splitter cables with your PSU. I also prefer to use two separate cables. In terms of the FTW3 it will be three cables. I might splash out and get some Cablemod  Cables made.
