MSFS Crosses Two Million+ Players

Recommended Posts

Mind you, that’s how many people have played it, not the number of active players.

Also that would include people on gamepass so not total purchases.

Heres the steam numbers. I dunno if you can track the number using the Microsoft store version. I imagine most players are on the MS store version because of gamepass

Nowhere does it say 2+ million players.

Left side of the image.
It uses the word pilots in place of players.

The article itself uses the word player in the title.

Interesting: real-time snow and ice coverage

Ah cool

As a thank you to all of you – die-hard simmers and newcomers to flight simulation alike – we are pleased to announce that we are preparing a few surprises alongside the VR update launching on December 22. Everyone will receive a unique Microsoft Flight Simulator-themed livery for the entire launch plane fleet and simmers will be able to fly with the same cute dog-themed liveries that Rufus and Sam flew in their Pitts Special. Finally, given the time of year, the update will add real-time snow and true-to-life ice coverage to the entire planet.

I think they can get the exact figure quite easily via the users who registerd with their account, which applies to all versions. It certainly is in no way related to the number of concurrent players (which applies to every game).

From my observation via fora, I would guess very roughly MS Store : Steam 50 : 50, plus add some who have the AS box edition. Tendency might be Steam users growing faster.

Anyway, I am quite happy about the figures.

Kind regards, Michael

That's actually some solid player numbers on Steam, with an average daily player count around 4.500 in the last 30 days. That's roughly half the daily player count of Elite: Dangerous: https://steamcharts.com/app/359320

Someone needs to hire you to analyze statistical data for global warming. We would finally get some good news about that! 😉

There's certainly some headroom in comparison to ETS2 (which might be the closest genre among the leading titles) with 33,00 player right now, but this is exclusively on Steam, I think.

Kind regards, Michael

How do you want me to respond to that?

What's your opinion about the Steam player count?

Yeah, only Steam has this kind of live data, as far as I know, people using the MS store version aren’t included there.

Also, about those numbers, that’s impressive. We are talking about a Flight Simulator, not some AAA title of a really popular genre.

Two million people ran it at some point, and that’s way more than any other simulator on the market, by far.

Well,

3 months ago an average weekday saw about 10.000 players.

2 months ago an average weekday saw about 6.000 players.

1 month ago an average weekday saw about 5.500 players.

These days an average weekday has less than 5.000 players.

Does that look like "solid numbers" to you? 😉

Cheers, Jan
