Replays in MSFS2020: Tool available in JAN2021 - FCR

Featured Replies

What a lot of folks out here really want is not only to be able to record a flight and replay it as AI, but to then replay it and fly alongside it in any aircraft, and record that, and then replay both flights together while flying alongside them and record that, then replay all 3 flights and fly alongside them.  Just like Matthias Neusinger made possible with FS Recorder.  No matter if the user interface has loud colors or looks like it was drawn on an Etch-a-Sketch, give us the functionality por favor s'il vous plaît.

Then we can make cool screenies like the one below which was was done in FS9 or FSX (can't remember which) in honor of Veteran's Day.

Oh yeah plus we want support for Helicopters when they come out, even if this poor Huey could barely keep up while the others were flying on the edge of a stall!

Very clear explanations.

It activated in about 1 minute.

Here is a video made during a replay. Quick and dirty.

This has huge potential. I realized bit does not drop or extend flaps gear etc from recording, you have to do that. It just keeps the plane in the exact position it was in each frame. I only just started and it seems very easy to use.

I recorded using Bandicam so you see my mouse a few times.

I had a couple stutters but not bad really while recording the flight.

OK. I am not judging at this stage.. its most likely user error.

I suspect its over engineered. I got a pop evaluating my landing. Why? Its not germane to replay.

I started fsim and put my Twin engine at DFW...tookoff and landed a feew yeards on the same runway and then clicked replay. A simple basic replay.

It looked like replay started. but my aircraft moved no where.. then I clicked "move aircraft" and it took me somewhere dark.. No idea where I am now. Hmmm

Didn't think I would need a tutorial for replay. Let  me look for the tutorial on u tube.

You can stop rewind, slomo, jump to any part. It is all in the controller strip at the top of the window.

OK I tried the

Record replay and it seemed to replay. Initially I wanted the replay without the recording. The default recording of 2 minutes or so. Not sure how to make that work

In any case what menu should I be using the record. the big one outside the sim or the pop up that is on top?

PS Need a manual for this. It's not intuitive.  No idea what each of the buttons like "Go to landing', "Reset Landing", "show controller", etc mean.

A nice feature is use the arrow keys on KB to slomo back or forward one frame at a time or just play, when you let go plane stops. This is great for really analyzing your landings.

I use Bandi cam to record seems to work very well.

I am sure a manual will come out. This is still a beta. And I for one am glad they released early.

I would expect some bugs. Have not found any yet.

I kind of figured how this works.. More learning needed.

But they overloaded this FS Recorder with other things. things useful for VR? Joystick with force feedback? What has these to do with FS Recorder?  And Landing value system with annoying verbal announcement of the landing rating. What has this to do with FS Recorder?

Schizophrenic tool.

All I was looking for was two things. 1) Without actually recording...a default recording of last 2-5 minutes.. like in FSX after landing. If do decide to playback. Give me an instant replay for a few minutes.

2) active recording of longer recording (HD space limited) and playback and using as AI for a new flight. like the FSRecoder of FSX.

The above two without crowding my FSIM screen with pop ups all over the place.

Additional features is ok provided its there to bring to the fore as parameter settings for folks who enjoy them.

To be fair to the developers, this is how I felt about EZDOK for FSX during its early stage. I hated it.. Overloaded with features struggled with basic head shake in the beginning. Later on fell in love with EZDOK and I am sure I would like this eventually too. LOL 🙂

Uh oh that's not a good comparison. EZCA has a terrible GUI. Still, for 20 quid, I figured it was worth a pop so I bought it, not least because the lack of a replay function has seriously impacted on my youtube channel where MSFS content is concerned.

Anyway, let's check it out. Will report back. Incidentally, it installed and activated all in less than a minute.
